I was way off on Belinda (I thought it hit #1 in spring, it's December) and Starship (I thought it hit #1 around now, it's March).

Every once in a while, you come through! I had no idea that song was a cover. But now that I do, I will forgive George Harrison for writing a 6-word song.
I had no idea, either.

As late-ish 80's countdowns go, this one doesn't stink up the joint too bad. I like around 15 of those tunes.

Mister scotch, I get the impression that Weird Al was unfamiliar with the original version of I've Got My Mind Set On You when he wrote his parody. Here is some useless trivia for you: The George Harrison song contains 42 different words. Weird Al's parody contains 99. Here is another version of the song, from Shakin' Stevens' 2007 CD Now Listen:

You Take My Breath Away has 41 different words. Thank you for asking. The vocal song with the fewest words is Forever, a 1960 #9 hit
by the Littl;e Dippers, who were actually the Anita Kerr Singers. It has only nine different words. The pianist is Floyd Cramer.

Why Do Fools Fall In Love is a remake of a 1956 #6 hit by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers. The original recording credited Frankie Lymon, tenor Herman Santiago and Gee Records owner/producer George Goldner as the writers. In 1956, George Goldner and Morris Levy founded Roulette Records. In 1957, Levy bought Gee Records. Reissues of the recording credited him, and not Goldner, as a co-writer. Actually, Teenagers members Jimmy Merchant and Herman Santiago wrote the song – but they waited too many years to take legal action and they are not credted as the writers now.

Why Do Fools Fall In Love has been recorded by more than 70 artists including Gale Storm, Gloria Mann, Linda Scott, Lou Christie, Joni Mitchell, Sha Na Na, the Dovells, the Diamonds, the Chiffons, the Four Seasons and A Taste Of Honey. Here is a 1964 version by the Beach Boys:

Man, I am such a sucker for these early 80's countdowns - such a great mix of pop, rock, R&B, & Adult Contemporary songs. I don't think there's even one song in that 40 that I hate. A few that maybe fall into the "not my bag" territory, but still would probably evoke a smile.

Good 11
Okay 6
Bad 23

37: I WANT YOU, I NEED YOU – CHRIS CHRISTIAN

No idea what everyone else guessed but I went for the hat trick, saying it would be #1 Physical #2 Waiting #3 Every. I was really close!

I'll try to do the "won't make" tomorrow.
