LOL! "Mythical". I use Cloud Based Companies who 's only biz is offsite archiving. Me thinks that amazon may have it's greedy little fingers in too many jars.
Mail me a cassette tape every six weeks with a complete backup of your FORTRAN programs on it.
I'll put it in my freezer.
Amazon Web Services use storage, but they aren't the cloud storage this thread was created for.
I use several "cloud based" services for my business (email archive, offsite backup). Knock on wood, our experiences have been very good. We deal with companies whose only job is to provide the service we need. Things can and do happen, but we've never had an adverse impact. If you "do it yourself," things can go wrong there too.
