This was on both of the local news channels we watched yesterday. Something went wrong at a paper mill and "black liquor" was expelled. Maybe they can use the snow to make some White Russians."It's beginning to look a lot like"........ummm.........hmmm. Well, maybe Mister scotch can tell us.

The overuse of "reveal" and "revealed." Holy crap. There's so many other words that could be used in lieu of those two.
Likewise, when did it become a thing to name someone's song when talking about them?
1) "Eminem, the 'Without Me' rapper..."
2) "Swift, the 'Our Song' crooner..."

The same with "random". They rarely mean random. Sometimes it's arbitrary, or unexpected, or happenstance, or unspecified.
I was looking up movie reviews, and each actor they mentioned was parenthetically followed by their most recognizable movie. After a while, it's quite annoying.

It should be "The College Football Playoffs" or the headline should end in the word "Game."
On that note, I've seen it with teams too. "Let's turn on Knicks" or whatever the game is. "Browns are playing Bengals at 1pm today." It's never "The Browns are playing" or "Did the Lions win?"

FIFY. The question mark should be outside the quotation marks. You're welcome. Headlines almost never include the word "the." Among the Associated Press guidlines for writing headlines are "Eliminate unnecessary words (e.g., a, an, the)" and "Omit forms of the verb ‘to be’ (e.g., is, are, was, were)."
South Korea's Parliament voted today to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol for declaring martial law on December 3. This morning on NPR's Weekend Edition, correspondent Anthony Kuhn said Yeol "shot himself in the foot." Uh, no, he did not shoot himself in the foot. That expression is 멍청한 and 짜증나는.

I always forget that. (Forth grade grammar lessons were a LONG time ago.)
It's one of those grammatical things that always looks wrong no matter which way I type it.

In general, 98's got it right when it comes to brevity for headlines. But one thing that seems to be universal is that truck drivers don't "drive a truck", they "drive truck". I don't know why that is.
