All I wanted was some steak
I don't think I ever saw the video.
Like oh my god!!
Not only do I remember (a toned-down version of) it back in high school, but someone I work with right now sounds a bit like this.this dialect never caught on outside the valley.
I guess us Canadians have/had more sense. Not only do I remember (a toned-down version of) it back in high school, but someone I work with right now sounds a bit like this.
There's a clip for thatVocal Fry is the new version of the Valley Girl.
There's a clip for that
What exactly is the proper expression then? Because I hear similar versions of that all the time, to mean that 2 things are being equated which shouldn't be.A woman on our local NPR station talked about "comparing apples to oranges" – but she wasn't talking about apples and oranges. She was talking about radio audiences and television audiences. Unless apples and oranges are the subject of a discussion, there is no reason to use that expression.
That’s kinda dumb.A woman on our local NPR station talked about "comparing apples to oranges" – but she wasn't talking about apples and oranges. She was talking about radio audiences and television audiences. Unless apples and oranges are the subject of a discussion, there is no reason to use that expression.
There's a thread for thatI just don't like clichés.
