A couple of years ago, they got rid of the option (on my Samsung phone) to set the screen to not time out. I don't know why they took away this option, but it requires me to touch the screen every 10 minutes or more. So now, when I do that, I risk changing the channel. Note: I'm driving while I do this.

I'd like to hear anything else positive from this update.
 
I really like mine. I take it with me to the Y, bikeriding and the yardwork. And walking though I don't walk as much as the other activities.
though I still haven't noticed a difference with the now playing screen yet
 
Here's a problem I've been seeing for a long time (prior to the new update). When I'm in an area where I lose the cell signal, I'd like it to just keep searching in the background for a signal, and then automatically proceed. That's what my TV and computer do, when the WIFI is out. But the goddamned SiriusXM app has to come up with "Something went wrong, do you want us to keep trying?" And then they overlay a "Keep trying/Close" option over the playback screen. Sometimes it requires a response to try reconnecting, but at other times it's trying to connect anyway, because the spinning wheel is going under the popup.

I stream from my phone in the car. I want to start the car, pick/resume a channel, and start driving. I don't need to be doing shit while I'm driving, in order to restart it. Just search for a signal, and when you find one, RESUME PLAY! How hard is that? If I wanted to close the app, I can just close it. I don't need a special popup demanding a response. Oh, and after you hit "Keep trying", and it finds a signal, you still have to hit the "play" arrow. WTF?

This seems to tie-in with the stupidity involving the "Listen outside the car" campaign, where they assume that nobody streams in the car. I've been doing that for 15 years. And guess what? If you use any other service, like Apple Carplay, Pandora, Spotify, etc., you're streaming in the car. Why does SXM have to be so boneheaded about it?
 
My new problem is these damn channel forward/backward buttons on the app. I'll see a song I like, press back to go to the beginning or sometimes the previous song, then it'll change channels on me when I put the phone in my pocket.
 
I had a week or two on the desktop app (browser) where I'd open the page and get a black screen with the spinning loading wheel thing.
I'd have to hit refresh to get my library to show up. Friday and Monday, the volume would be maxed out, not where I left it.
Today, things were back to normal. I'm assuming that there was an update.

I have the same experience except without the volume thing.

I've had a similar issue putting it in my pocket. Or when I take my ear plugs off and back on and it changes the song.
But the fact it is so portable makes up for it.

I started with the Sportster Replay. I had to play it "popped out" of the boombox and the contrast all the way low and I couldn't really use it in the bathroom because the humidity would mess the radio up.

I then had the Stiletto 100 with the "pain phones" that were awful to wear and it couldn't be charged up with those headphones plugged in.

This is what we all wanted back in 2012 or so...the ability to go just about anywhere and get service. When 4G was new, I would be walking down the street and the service would drop out on random blocks because I'd get bumped down to 3G.
 
So on my phone I noticed for some time now that if I put the app on pause, it will pick up the same program/song right where I left off but if I choose another channel and go back then it will be at the current playlist. (I believe they called it something like holding in the buffer).
But today I noticed during my biking that if I get a phone call and answer, the song will automatically hold until I get off. I was listening to the Coffee channel Maroon 5 acoustic version of "Won't Go Home Without You" when my phone started ringing and I pulled over to talk for about 10 minutes and when I hung up still had the same song and same spot.

That's your phone pausing the app. Whenever a voice is used - like when you use voice-to-text, or your phone reads your messages, or your navigation gives directions - it either mutes or pauses any music app. So it works the same as when you hit pause.

But another thing the app does is pick-up where you left off. I can go to the supermarket, and when I come out and start the car, the app continues the song that was playing when I turned-off the car. I believe it'll hold the position for like 6 hours. It's at least 2 hours.
 
SXM app
Such as I see that Kate Bolinger has her own station on the app now. It is called the Kate Bolinger Station. I listened around sunset in the backyard and taking a walk. With every 5th or so song being a Kate Bolinger song. The rest of the songs were filled with similar artists. I would guess every major current artist has a station like this. Laufey has one too. I do not listen to Spotify but probably this is a similar set up. I liked that they played songs from her CD's that I do not have other than "To Your Own Devices" I know I've mentioned this before but it's great we can take SXM anywhere I go now. (Where I want to listen to music or a game that is)

I've been streaming SXM (from my phone) in the car since 2011. That's why I fail to understand the campaign (of recent years) telling everyone they can now listen "outside the car". Because A) streaming has been available for mobile devices since 2009 (see below), and B) streaming "in the car" has been a better alternative to satellite since the app became available.

Plus you could listen at home with a radio home kit which I had for years. But I guess a lot of subscribers do not realize they can listen outside the car.
As far as my case, I was being a stubborn traditionalist insisting I had to listen through a radio. But I was just limiting my access to opening the window and listening in the backyard or the front porch.
 
Now messing around on this incredibly beautiful day, I had on the Laufey Station all that time. It had Laufey of course, her Coffeehouse associates, her Watercolors associates, her jazz influences heard on Siriusly Sinatra and some associates of origin I do not know from but were really good. And Laufey and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I could not stop listening. Now if I listen again, I wonder if it will be a re-run.
