Boy, you gotta love the 33% increase I had to pay to renew my sub last week!

and I thought the merger was supposed to be so good. well I see they have added a sh*t load of fees:

gotta pay a fee for music royalties every month which is and extra $1.19

gotta pay $2.99 a month to get the same innernet listening I got for free before

so add that to the 12.95 a month, and I'm paying 17.13 a month now. quite an increase I must say. if howard doesn't re-sign and they dont get bubba exclusive in 2011, I'm definitely gonna cancel, cuz I dont listen to sirius for music as I have an ipod. I listen for uncensored talk, and they simply don't have enough radio personalities on here exclusively.

and while I do now get sirius on my blackberry, that sh*t is useless, cuz h100 and 101 are NOT available on there which sucks d*ck.

so my bill has gone from $142.45 a year to $188.43 a year. Not seeing what I'm getting for such an increase. and can anyone tell me how does the merger benefit consumers again?

quite an increase in the times of a HUGE recession I think. would rather have a la carte and pick 10 or 20 stations, but of course H100 and 101 aren't included, so thats useless as well. was gonna just get internet streaming only and play it out of my blackberry while in the car, but h100 and 101 aren't included there either.

The $2.99 is well worth it, as it also comes with a lot better SQ on all channels.

Radio 1 - Sirius Everything + BOXM for 1 year 101.38 (Year of Sirius Everything is $142)
Radio 2 - Sirius Everything + BOXM for 1 year 65.57 (Year of Sirius Everything is $98)
Premium Internet for 1 year 32.71

Grand Total = $199.66 (Remember, I started out with two $55 gift cards and a bit of credit and I still have $10 or so in credit left. And, they gave me more credit for a situation I posted about in another thread.)

If you're nice about it and insist it is a warranty replacement, they shouldn't charge the $15. If they do charge it, call back and they should give you $15 in credit.

When I signed back up this time, it was about double what I used to pay for the year. I think $280 or so. Sirius XM is really, really pushing the limits of what people are going to be willing to pay.

If you commit to 3 years, the $12.95/mo goes to $9.99/mo (billed all at once). Another option is switching to a talk only package which does not have the royaltee fee and is $9.99/mo billed monthy. No internet available on that one though.

It kinda sucks that they found a loophole to the merger price fix deal, but when I'm forced to listen to FM, I get over it pretty quickly.

Like I was saying when I canceled last spring - it's not the money, it's the pace at which the prices have increased. Over about a year, the prices shot up dramatically and multiple times. It feels like you're getting ripped off when that happens.

Just cancel, and wait a few days for them to offer you a discounted rate to come back. They did that with me today.

I already re-upped my XM sub at the 5 months for 20 bucks, so I declined the offer.

I think we might be in the same boat but guess what...i renewed for $20 for 5 months. Why? I threatened to cancel! I knew they would back down. Honestly, I couldn't afford the $166 (or whatever it was) for a year that they were going to charge (and would have done so automatically if the card that I had on that account was not canceled!). So, I negotiated. First they put someone (who was American as opposed to the first person I talked to) and they offered $77 for a year (including, according to her, internet listening). I said I would think about it (I figured I could buy some Sirius cards for a slight discount). Then she came back with the famous 5 for $20, and that was a given!

At the prices mentioned, a year of SXM is roughly equivalent to a monthly bill for cable, internet and home phone packages offered by cable providers.

Still seems worth it to me.

If I decided to live with yearly (or less) subscriptions I'd try to work out a discount of some sort. Paying retail must suck. You have to think prices aren't going to get any cheaper either.

With perfect hindsight the decision to go lifetime two Decembers ago and make five easy payments meant no more fees. The free 32k internet streaming is icing on the cake. I'll feel even better once I start listening for free in march of 2011.

The lifetime is one of those things I wish I would have done from the start, four years ago. Then the merger came along and I had to wonder if the lifetime would ever pay itself off. Now things are looking better for S/XM's future. I may still do it one of these days.

After my most recent experience, a lifetime is something I wish I never had done. Its a pain in the butt when they don't accept flaky hardware exchanged under warrentee as an excuse for a transfer. And if you get a new radio, lifetime it, and it dies in 1 month, unless you boutht it from sirius.com, they will want to treat that as a transfer. If you bought it from sirius.com, they will send you a refurbished pile of crap but not charge for the transfer.

Sirius used to be quite liberal with this. They are no longer.

So was I. It was not a hardware failure (switch) but an internal hardware failure (more than likely either memory or the SD card reader).

I think I have free internet if I chose to accept the 32k stream too.
