The original 3:37 version of Indiana Wants Me included a police siren at the beginning and middle and ended with a officer saying "This is the police. Give yourself up. You are surrounded" and the sound of gunfire. How many drivers heard the song on the radio and pulled over to the curb because they heard the siren and thought it was real? Probably quite a few. A 3:01 edited version eliminated the siren and the gunfire. Here is the original:

R. [Richard] Dean Taylor released 20 singles between 1960 and 1982 and Indiana Wants Me, which reached #5 on the November 7 1970 Hot 100, was his only top-40 hit in the United States. He had five top-40 hits in Canada. Here is the first of those, I'll Remember, from May 1962. I have been unable to identify the background singers.
