Concerts you have attended?

You do need a passport to go to Canada right? Like since 9:11 because honestly that's going to be a pain in the ass. I imagine it's not that hard to get a passport but I don't like doing stuff that involves me not watching my 98-in TV

Also, I can see how this goes and I think it will be incredibly funny like you and I have been internet buddies for like pushing 20 years now and the minute I get there like we're polite to each other. But I totally like your kid a million times more than I like you.

Hahahahahah

Yes, passports are now required.

Also, this may or may not come up, but was your jail conviction a felony or misdemeanour? If a felony, it may be flagged at the border.

Went out last night & saw a couple local bands from the late 90's who reunited for a couple of shows in the area - The Creature Comforts ( their 2nd album was just re-issued on vinyl for the 1st time ) & Ashtray Babyhead. Good show.

I took the plunge and I bought the second Miami night and the St. Pete night today at work. They're both general admission and it was like 60 and 67 bucks. The venue in St. Pete looks beautiful. They don't go through Ticketmaster and yet somehow they are more expensive. But I think it'll be worth it. It's called the St. Pete Pier and if it's anywhere near as nice as the pictures, it's going to be an amazing venue for jamming out to the anointed heirs to the jam band crown.

Check it out:

Number 4 is where the shows are in think.

Billy Joel has not been to Toronto in 10 years. He is coming back for 1 show only. I have tried several pre-sales this week and found no ticket less than $350. Today I got in on a pre-sale and got $105 tickets. Quite reasonable for a star as big as Billy.

Upcoming Shows:

2024:
  • Creed [11/27 Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON]
2025:
  • Billy Joel [03/15 Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON]
  • "Weird Al" Yankovic [07/09 Budweiser Stage, Toronto, ON]

I'm on vacation, & went out to see live music the last 2 nights. I'd have to double-check, but I dunno if I've ever done shows on back to back nights before.

Tuesday night I went to see my favorite local band The Whiffs. Opening was another local band called ( get ready for it ) Wayne Pain And The Shit Stains. They sounded exactly like what you think they sounded like. Pretty amusing, actually - but 30 minutes worth was plenty. The Whiffs did a couple new tunes from the album they're working on ( and I can't wait to hear ). Here's one of 'em :

Then last night I went to see The Psychedelic Furs & Jesus And Mary Chain. First time seeing both live - really good show.

They put all their shows out for free on band camp. Here's the one from last night.

I was telling Pam yesterday that I hoped they play buttered rum, that song is fun and rocks, and like I said before they did so that was cool. Also flowdown had a crazy cool jam.

Also, I'm an old man in two regards. First of all, I didn't wear my Birkenstocks because I didn't want my feet to get all dirty like in the GA pit. And then when I figured the show was ending I went to the back cuz the whole place was ga and every seat had a pretty good view but I went to the back so I would be able to get right out the door to hit the bathroom and get to my car without any line.

20-year-old me would be embarrassed.

Night two was fun. There were a few bangers I'm going to have to look at the set list but I know they ended set two with hot tea which is a fun one.

They did a couple of covers but the one I liked the most was The Clash Rock the Caspah. They jammed that one out.

Also some people in front of me gave me antennae so that was fun for Halloween.

I find it intriguing that this newcomer band Goose is so completely embraced by the obsessed Deadheads/Phishheads. Good for them I guess. It's like printing money.

They've been around since 2014 and I think most like big phish guys like me probably learned they existed in 2020. I'm pretty sure you can find posts of me talking about them during the pandemic here.

You're right though, and it is interesting how both dead and company and Trey have completely embraced them. I'm guessing they share maybe an agent or something. Like they opened for Trey's side project the Trey anastasio band... That band, like phish, doesn't ever have an opening act so that was a big deal.

I mean they won and there must have been something going on behind the scenes to make it such a clear victory. There are plenty of good younger jam bands, but goose is clearly the successor to phish. And that's kind of a big deal because most people don't even know who phish is. And if they don't know them, they have no chance of knowing the even less mainstream jam bands like string cheese or widespread panic. Or goose's peers like pigeons playing ping pong or twiddle.

First off, Toronto has survived the first half of a Swiftie invasion. 6 shows. 3 this week 3 next. Unfortunately the concerts conflicts with me being downtown for work or hockey games. Glad when this is all over.

The reason I posted however was I found really cheap tickets to see Prism and Streetheart at Casino Rama in February. Tickets with fees under $40 a piece. This will be the third time I have seen each band life. Prism I saw first in 1979 or 1980 with their original lead singer in Regina, SK. I can't remember when I saw them exactly. If it was 1979 it would be my first concert. The second time I saw Prism was in 2020 with my wife at Rama. New singer (original singer died in bike accident in 1984). Was pretty good. Streetheart I saw first at Rama also in 2020 with my wife. Second time I saw with my son. It's funny I mention 2020 and concerts. I did about 7 concerts in January, February and March before everything closed. So the price was right so we are seeing the bands again.

Upcoming Shows:

2024:
  • Creed [11/27 Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON]
2025:
  • Prism & Streetheart [02/28 Casino Rama, Orillia, ON]
  • Billy Joel [03/15 Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON]
  • "Weird Al" Yankovic [07/09 Budweiser Stage, Toronto, ON]
