Control panel - type POWER in the search box (top right) - click EDIT POWER PLAN - click ADVANCED SETTINGS
1. Change "Sleep After" to zero/never
2. Change "PCI Express-Link state power" to OFF
Then verify after hitting OK that 'put computer to sleep' is NEVER
I went online and asked the question specifically for my line of laptops, and that certainly was suggested. But also in the same menu, there's something about sleep mode disabling USB, and if you kill that, it helps. And the other thing I did was to get a BIOS update. So we'll see.
