Sounds like a good time at the beach
I viewed your post from the park (Concerts You Have Attended), John Mayer is a big contributor on my channel, so I give this channel a listen on my bike for a last-minute sunset ride. I liked hearing "Pyscho Killer" Talking Heads, from my college days but especially liked Bonnie Raitt "Thank You", first time listen

Yeah, but unlike that old channel "The Loft" (defunct?), he sticks with contemporary pop/rock. He doesn't throw in any jazz, classical, country, or hip-hop, just for the purpose of being diverse. Everything he plays, he likes (and hopefully, so do we).
And as a music expert, he throws-in a lot of interesting facts. Like before playing Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos, he went into the whole thing about drummer Matt Chamberlain, and all the bands he's played in. He talks about songs that have a lot of key changes, or where the bass line never changes (like Crazy by Seal). Or how Mandolin Rain by Bruce Hornsby is a half-shuffle, half-straight rhythm. And he's met and played with a lot of artists.
The channel is programmed in a way that changes from day to day. Like that playlist I posted is heavy on 70s soft rock, but sometimes he plays a lot of newer indie music, or singer-songwriter stuff, or guitar god songs, or he'll mix-in a lot of female pop singers.
And I'm always hearing a song that I haven't heard on the radio in years, like Heartbeat City by The Cars or Home by the Sea by Genesis (from the playlist I just posted). Occasionally, I'm not into a particular song they play, but I stick with it, and it pays off.

OK, so it's still there, but streaming only. Is it still programmed by Meg (Megless) Griffin?
When I first got Sirius radio in 2005, I gave The Loft the old college try; meaning I put in a good effort on multiple occasions to stick with it. And each time, I'd get to a song (or run of songs) that would make me think "I don't need to do this". So I'd just bail.
But it's not a good "check-in" channel either, because more often than not, it's playing something that doesn't grab me. It requires commitment, which I don't have for that channel, unless it's different now.
Meg Griffin of The Beatles Channel. I would not be able to tell you. I did not care for the Loft myself. I tried it once a long time ago.
I had a neat Loft apartment at one time and thought it was a cool name for a channel but I did not enjoy the music. But I definitely like your find with the Life With John Mayer channel. When he takes his turn, I 'd like to hear "Stop This Train"

He does throw in his own music, of course. Probably once every 8 to 10 songs. He mostly plays his more popular hits, and he tries to mix it up. Sometimes he'll tell a story about the meaning of the song, or how it got written.

Mike Marrone programmed The Loft for 17 years. He retired in December 2017 and was replaced by Chris Muckley, who also programs The Spectrum and 1st Wave. Alexander Lubeck has programmed The Loft since February 2022. He was an events director at Georgetown University's WGTB in 2016 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2017. In August 2016, Lubeck joined SiriusXM as a music programming intern and was later promoted to music programming coordinator, then assistant music director and finally to music director.
