Cool. All we got is silly Canadian ads. The only one that was any good:

Which of course is a take off of the Hockey Song by Stomping Tom Conners:

John Oliver had a good segment about Facebooks bullshit tonight.
It was about how they kowtow to whatever pressure they are under to bullshit their way around their problems at the public's expense.

At the end, he pointed out how you can take a little bit of the money away from FB that they make off of you from their advertisers.

To find out how to reduce the way that you're targeted and they profit, visit one of Oliver's websites:
How to Change Your Meta Settings | Make yourself less valuable to Meta. Brought to you by Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Facebook stock is one of the fang stocks that is fucking amazing as a performer. I have no idea how my 84-year-old father figured out to buy Facebook in 2012, a few months after it went public. But really good call Hendrik.

Anyway, the fangs are Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google.

The last line of my post explained it. But I actually got it wrong. I left out Apple. Faang is an acronym for Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Google. They're like the the big 5 tech stocks. Nvidia and Microsoft are big players too but for some reason they aren't considered part of the big five.

It took me a second to catch on to that.

Phish has a song called AC/DC Bag. And it's named after the chords they play in it like AC/DC but after the last C they really play F and then A and then G. Even though it's a song from their first album in 1983 they knew enough to not call it AC/DC fag so they changed it to AC/DC bag.

Much like the song "Le Freak" from Chic. The original lyrics were not "Freak Out" but they knew they would get 0 radio airplay unless they cleaned it up.

Oh that's neat. You made me do some research there. At first I was thinking how the hell is the term le freak inappropriate? But yeah Google says it was originally fuck off instead of freak out. That makes sense why they would change it.

Kind of like that song that Ed Sheeran wrote and sold to Justin Bieber....You can go and love yourself but Sheeran wrote it as you can go and fuck yourself.

On December 18, after kingchuck posted the news that Chic vocalist Alfa Anderson had died, I wrote that Le Freak "went to number one on the Hot 100 and the R&B chart in December 1978. Rodgers, who co-wrote the song with Edwards, knew it would never get played on radio with the original chant of "F*** off!" – so he changed it to "Freak out!"

Now I know IRBS, Jon and JHDK don't pay much attention to what I write. Either that, or they each have a poor memory. :p

We all love you channel. But your posts sometimes tend to be more like what you would read in a college encyclopedic textbook then that of the stupid opinion-based shit that all the rest of us post around here.

But you've taught me a shit ton of stuff. So I'm not saying stop. I'm just saying don't bust my balls if I skim some of your posts every now and now and then.

For three semesters I was news editor of El Vaquero, the weekly newspaper of Glendale College. For two years I wrote a weekly outdoors column for the Montrose Ledger. For 13 years I wrote a daily column of radio history, music trivia and celebrity birthdays for the LARadio website. (It shut down in 2023 following the death of its founder.) Since 1991 I've written a monthly column for the radio fanzine DecalcoMania.

That explains why my writing style is often formal, proper and educational. It also explains why, when I find mistakes or typos in things I've written, I often delete, correct and re-post them.
