Minor Ailments

what is the [point] of being alive?
You spent years caring for your dad, who hung in there till the age of 92. So that was all a waste? Once your mom was gone, why did he go on?

I know that your dad was glad to be alive, and that you and other family members were glad to have him around. You put in all that effort, because his life was worth it. There are guys who've lost limbs in IED attacks, and they deal with it. Some people are wheelchair-bound their whole lives. I guarantee you that childbirth is a lot more painful than a knee injury.

Besides, you can play the sympathy card after your surgery.

I blew out my left knee in 1986 cycling. Doc said I had 2 bad knees but the other was not causing pain yet. He advised using lower gears in cycling and stretching exercises. The knee did heal over time and I was able to get on my bike. In the 90s I was hit by a car on my bike and blew out same knee. That hurt more and took longer to heal. Worst was @ 5AM before the body produces it's own natual pain killers. I recovered by Advil and walking with a cane. The more I was able to walk the faster it healed. At the start, I couldn't walk much.

Both knees at the same time is unusual. Take as much pain killers as you are legally allowed. If they are swollen, ice them constantly. Swelling can make pain worse. And listen to your doctors. If they haven't come with a solution, keep pressing them. Make them earn their money.

did i mention my horrible knee pain????????????
What did the doctor say to do for it? In most cases, your best approach is to 'grin and bear it'. Go slower but keep the joints moving. It will take time to heal. The less you move them, usually the longer the time. But go with what the doctor ordered. Some injuries require different treatments. I am not a doctor nor have I played one on tv. I also did not stay last night at a Holiday Inn Express.
