1 RUMOURS FLEETWOOD MAC 1
Zero surprise. Nice to see.
17 A NIGHT AT THE OPERA QUEEN 1
Do people really listen to more than Bohemian Rhapsody on this album? I mean sure every Queen album has people who listen to the whole thing, but does every track on this one get listened to so much that it's the #17 most streamed 70s album? Or is it "1 trillion streams of Bohemian, plus a few thousand streams of the rest, equals #17 most streamed"
23 TUSK FLEETWOOD MAC 1
This surprises me. Most of this album is really fucking weird. 20 songs and, from memory of listening to it in the 90s once, more than half were bizarre.
29 OFF THE WALL MICHAEL JACKSON 3
I woulda thought Thriller would be on the list instead of this one.

Thriller is 1983 not the 70s.

Tusk has 3 very good songs on it (IMHO). "Tusk", "Sara", "Think About Me". If I listened to 1 or 2 or 3 of those songs from the album, does it count as streaming the album?

Same question for Queen but it is a very good album. I have listened to 5 or 6 of the songs reasonably regularly. It is not one I listen to much as an album.

The most-streamed album of all-time, with more than 23,000,000,000 streams, is Bad Bunny's 2022 CD Un Verano Sin Ti ("A Summer Without You"). It debuted at number one on the May 21 2022 Billboard 200 album chart, remained at number one for 13 weeks and was the best-selling album of the year. On this week's Billboard 200, it dropped from #34 to #39 in its 218th week on the chart. Here is the title track, which is not one of the eight singles released from the album:

Music streaming began in 1995 with RealPlayer. In 2026, the biggest streaming platforms worldwide are Spotify, TenCent Music, iHeartMedia, Gaana, NetEase Cloud Music, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Amazon Music, SoundCloud and Anghami.

The Official Charts Company rankings of the most-streamed albums are based on data from only the United Kingdom, not worldwide. Here is the list of most-streamed 1980s albums in the UK. Michael Jackson's Thriller is #3. Michael Jackson's Bad is #2. And.......

"Pip" is British slang. It means "to defeat or beat someone by a very narrow margin" and is commonly used in the expression "pipped at the post."

What exactly constitutes a streamed album? How do you stream an album? Or do they just look at streamed songs, and note the albums they came from?

Sometimes I stream an entire 70's album on You Tube. I just streamed Boz Scaggs "Down Two Then Left" this morning. Since I lost my CD in the basement.
Just that, since I have a free account, I have commercials in between each song

Based on chart position, not sales – weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart, weeks in the top ten, weeks in the top 40 and weeks in the top 200 – here are the biggest 1970s albums in the United States:

1. Rumours – Fleetwood Mac
2. Saturday Night Fever soundtrack
3. Tapestry – Carole King
4. Songs In The Key Of Life – Stevie Wonder
5. Grease soundtrack
6. Frampton Comes Alive! – Peter Frampton
7. Bridge Over Troubled Water – Simon & Garfunkel
8. Greatest Hits – Elton John
9. The Long Run – Eagles
10. Cosmo's Factory – Creedence Clearwater Revival

Rumours was number one for 31 weeks. Several times it has dropped off and re-entered the album chart. This week it falls from 28 to 30 in its 694th week on the chart. Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon was number one for only one week, April 28 1973, but it holds the record for most weeks on the chart: 996 (non-consecutive).
