You've never heard of him? He is neither unknown nor is he inexperienced. It is rare for a traded QB to start like this on short notice especially when you have a bye week coming up.

Ok. Him. He kinda dropped out of sight. Obviously the Radiers have a huge amount of confidence in him.

I never said anything about their confidence in him. I simply said that I am surprised Palmer is starting especially since the bye week is coming up and the #2 QB has been in the system for two seasons. I'm not the only person surprised seeing that most of the initial reports were that he wouldn't be starting.

Polamalu fined $10,000 for calling wife on sideline during game - Shutdown Corner - NFLBlog - Yahoo! Sports

All Troy Polamalu wanted to do was let his wife know he was OK.

The Pittsburgh Steelers star left Sunday's game with concussion-like symptoms after he made a crucial tackle of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Given his prior history with the brain injuries, there was added reason for concern. After Polamalu was assessed by doctors on the sideline, Polamalu borrowed one of their cell phones to call his wife and let her know he was doing fine.

That call ended up costing him $10,000.

The NFL fined Polamalu on Friday for having a cell phone on the field during the game. It's against NFL rules to have cell phones or electronic equipment near bench areas from 90 minutes before kickoff through the end of the game. Polamalu clearly was in violation with his mid-game phone call.

I am unsure how I feel about the phone deal. Yes he broke the rules but he was calling his wife. Also, he could have had somebody else call his wife. I feel there needs to be some common sense on both sides of the fine.

I agree they should ban cell phones on the field. It a game, not time to make personal phones calls. They already have phones on the field, but those calls go to the coaches upstairs, right?

If he wanted to make a personal call, use one of those phones on the sidelines, I bet a coach would had transferred the call to his wife! But still Polamalu can afford that fine of $10,000, that probably one paycheck to him!

I think a fine is OK. He will appeal and the fine should be waived given the circumstances. Therefore, the rules are upheld and no harm done.

Tim Tebow of the Broncos, finally played today and did a nice rally in the 4th quarter as the were down by 15 points to beat the Dolphons.
