Perfectly Frank playlist

Two more to add to the list: Eileen Newton (words) and Arthur Tate (music) wrote Somewhere A Voice Is Calling in 1911. There were three top-ten versions of the song in 1914, byJohn McCormack, Henry Burr, and Elizabeth Spencer & Vernon Archibald. Frank Sinatra recorded the song with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra on March 9, 1942. It was released as the B-side of Dorsey's Well, Git It!, an instrumental featuring Ziggy Elman (real name: Harry Finkelman) on trumpet. Well, Git It! peaked at #20 on Billboard's August 22 1942 Best Selling Retail Records chart.

And.......

Frank Sinatra recorded All Or Nothing At All with the Harry James Orchestra on September 17, 1939. It was released as a single in July 1940 and failed to chart. It was re-issued in May 1943 and peaked at #2 on the September 4 1943 Best Selling Retail Records chart behind Tommy Dorsey's In The Blue Of Evening, which featured – yes – Frank Sinatra on vocals. Sinatra recorded a new version of All Or Nothing At All with the Don Costa Orchestra for his 1962 album Sinatra & Strings.

Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour sang this song in the 1940 movie Road To Singapore, which also starred Bob Hope.
Another movie referenced by Remington Steele in the episode with Dorothy Lamour and Lloyd Nolan. "Cast of Steele". I'd like to see that movie someday

I do not have a song from this weekend, but I did hear Diana Krall host "Playing Favorites" on Siriusly Sinatra. Her talking voice is just as sweet as her singing voice. And for last Monday's Senior Movie Classic Musical, we saw "tom thumb". I did not find anything Sinatra related but noticed in a storm scene where they used the same sky scene from the opening credits of "Gilligan's Island". The movie also had Peter Sellers and Wilbur from "Mr. Ed"
