You just have these things walking around in the woods around your house? The way I used to have groundhogs in Pennsylvania and it was a normal occurrence to see them?

That's wild. I had no idea what that animal was. I had to look it up. It doesn't really look feline. It looks more like an otter.
They are nocturnal, and we rarely hear of them. Foxes are something we tend to see every year, but they're not just hanging around like deer.

I read back a few pages and I don't think I've mentioned this yet and it's kind of a big deal....

Athena is probably 90% deaf. She can be wide awake and I can walk in behind her and like scream and she doesn't move a muscle. I can even say Athena you want a cat treat? Which is always guaranteed to get her attention and if she's not looking at me she doesn't move.

Also, she's become way more annoying. Every time she meows now it's this super loud annoying meow that she used to only do every now and then.

I'm guessing that's because she can't hear herself meow regularly so she has to meow as loud as possible to hear anything at all.

She's also become a little bit more sweet like she's constantly laying at my feet on the couch and getting full body cat rubs because that's fun to do. She doesn't even object to me petting her belly which she used to be opposed to, but I would do anyway because as everyone knows the belly is the best part of the cat. I've told her those exact words a million times and she's finally listening to me now that she's deaf and can't actually listen.

Anyway, she's 15 so this isn't really a shock. But it still sucks.

Other than being deaf she seems as physically capable as ever. Maybe slightly slower. I'm hoping to have another 5 years with my kitty.
Our cat and dog are not deaf if you measure their reactions to the building fire alarm.

She's not deaf. She's just at the next stage of her life. It's the stage where she really doesn't give a shit about what's going on, because she's a cat.
The next phase is where she eats your face off when you're sleeping.

Outside my office off property grounds, there is this long stretch of grass and dirt that borders the outside wall of one of my buildings. And this guy with a semi parks there because he must live in the area. I don't care. You can stay there as long as he wants.

Anyway, he's more or less me if I was black about the same size, maybe a few years younger. And he has this tiny little Chihuahua that is perfectly trained. It follows him around off leash and he walks past my office and crosses the busy street my office is on and the Chihuahua listens to him 100%. He keeps a carrier with him just in case. I've seen him put it in the carrier a couple times.

It's really kind of cute seeing this this giant trucker dude with this tiny little Chihuahua.

I stopped them once and told him exactly that I was like dude. It's really freaking cool how you've got that tiny little dog and you're such a big dude and now we're kind of friends we wave to each other every time he goes by.

I'll try to get a picture at some point.

Tali gets groomed every 6 weeks. It was $185 with tip, but it includes a bath, full cut, nails clipped, and ears/eyes cleaned. That's what we get for having a "non-shedding" dog.

I'm moving this over here because it's more appropriate.

I'm lucky I don't really have to spend much money on Athena, but I have spent the last 16 years of my life constantly worried about keeping her safe.

You all know me. I am an irresponsible person who often goes on drug addicted benders. So taking on that responsibility is fucking stressful.

I'm a person who if I didn't have Athena would likely forget to close my front door all the way at least a few times every month. But for the past 16 years I always have had to make sure she's in the house. The doors are closed. She's stuck in the house. She has enough food and water and a clean cat box.....all of that shit.

But overall it is worth it. She's a fucking cool cat and it's sweet like when I go to and to bed she jumps up on the bed and sleeps on the pillow next to me. Kind of makes it all worth it.

So while it's fun to bust balls about you paying fucking two benjamins for your dog to get a haircut.... I totally get it man.

Oh and hectic. Yeah I get it. She's going to eat me when I die.....

You saying that is my version of how you always say we can't have anything nice when I innocently and very generously talk about how I want to show you all a picture of my penis and you tell me I'm not allowed to and I'll get banned.

Those two things are basically a perfect one-to-one comparison so I'm preemptively responding to what I know you are thinking when you see that last post about Athena sleeping next to me.

We have our long-haired cat, Nico Rosberg, who gets stinky when her hair is long and matted. So at first, we had this woman who would come over and give her the lion cut. She'd trap Nico in the upstairs bathroom, right behind where I work, and they're be all these fighting sounds and cat screams. But she did a good job.

However, the lady went nuts or something, so we took Nico to a groomer a couple of times, which is a crazy thing to do. And it got to be too expensive for a fuckin' indoor cat, so now we do it at home with an electric razor.

I forgot to mention that the price for the grooming includes a new bandana each time.

What are your thoughts on her tail poof?

That second pic you've posted before. That shit looks like how a dog competing at Westminster should look.

That second pic is like the dog version of a Kardashian. It's too perfect.

If some Sheppard mutt who spent it's life avoiding the dogcatcher saw that second pic in like Playdog or whatever, God help us all.....no human leg would be safe from humping.

Ohhhhhh. Ok, good.

That other pic was just a bad angle or whatever. This is much better.

I was trying to be nice but people who like their dogs to have poofs like that are the same people who give your wife a 25 page list of how to care for their dog when they go on a 3 day weekend.

Good friends of ours went on a family trip to the old country - Ireland. And we got stuck with their young rescue dog, who is a (you guessed it) pit-bull mix.

1747766124109.png

Aside from looking like a pit-bull, she's the most mellow and friendly girl. But here's the interesting part. They first brought the dog over our house about 6 months ago. And Tali (our 4 year old) growled at her. In subsequent visits, they would leave her in the car, and just let her out for a walk. But then they planned the Ireland trip, so we needed Tali to accept this dog. And so we did another get-together, specifically to get them acclimated. And when the time came for their trip, we began the dog's visit with a hike, which really helps them all to get along.

Now the dogs are fine with each other. But the crazy thing is that, within a few hours of her arriving, our male cat Nico not only doesn't hide, but has come out and toward the dog, and actually backed her up a few times.

We're all wondering what it is, which has a cat determine that the dog is totally fine, even fearful. It really took no time at all.
