The Musical Instrument Thread

Groovy. It took me forever to get comfortable with solos. You'll get to the point where you don't feel like you have to play a solo, but want to do it.

The foot switch should be able to give you the boost. If not, an in-line stomp box will do the trick. Have fun! It's driving me nuts not playing lately.

They say Jeff Beck talks with his guitar. They say the same about sax players--they really emote with their instruments. I'd like to get to that point, where I know the sound I want and right where to get it. Now it's just licks I know sound cool and scales.

If you think you're going to get to where Jeff Beck is, you're going to need to quit your job and get a time mashine and go back 30 years ago and woodshed for the next 30 years.

VH1 or something was just playing a Jeff Beck concert tonight. Its fascinating to watch his right hand. No pick, and he wraps his non picking fingers around the tremolo arm. It's very unique.

So I just got offered a $400/month, six-month blogging gig. Two blog posts a month. It's highway robbery to the point that I really can't turn it down. I mean, it's like $100 an hour.

That kind of cash could buy me a keeper Fender and a keeper Martin.

Frick.

Frack! Run with it!
That's easier toy money than shooting weddings.

My desktop computer started to have conniptions this weekend. I was able to save files, but it's old and basically dead. I expected my laptop to go first. So I'm getting a new laptop tomorrow. It'll slow me down by a few weeks for the Reverend hollow body, but we've got another shoot coming up in a few weeks, so the Mrs won't bug me about it.

Well, the freelance gig fell through. It turns out the client wanted things done a little differently than the company I work for anticipated, and it was going to be more work than I was willing to put in. So, I'll continue to play my Squiers and Recording Kings. :)
