When my sister was visiting last fall she invited my son out to visit her in Calgary. The original week they were talking about was in December to see the Leafs play the Flames. Turns out my sister found out she had plans that week and it was just as well as that game was postponed due to covid. They chose this week as my son wanted to see Vegas and the Kraken. He also got to see Arizona. He wound up seeing all 3 games alone as my sister would up with COVID (again). She is triple vaxed and this is her third round. She is starting to feel better. They have been isolating. Her husband had something but it lasted only 1 day and he tested negative. My son has been fine and is flying home tonight.
My sister has recovered.

I find tapatalk a pain. So was planning to wait until I got back to a computer. But trying on my iPad on chrome. Seems to be ok but miss the keyboard.
We made it across. Barely. He was not going to allow guests until he discovered 2of the guests were American. At one point I tried to show him our vaccination papers and he said “Sir, you are in the United States now. We don’t care about that. Save those for the Canadians”. Best border guard quote ever.
Its quite a different world down here. Everything is open. No masks. Saw a baseball game on Sunday. It will be hard to go back to COVID prison next week.
Oh, we have a new granddaughter. Born yesterday. 9lbs 4 oz 21 ins.
I couldn't wait to prove (mostly to myself out of self doubt) that I was right.

A new granddaughter. I'm happy for you, IRBS. But why do people always share the length and weight of a newborn? Is it really that important? What matters is the baby's health. Can you imagine if we did that with adults? At a cocktail party: "This is my husband. He's 6-foot-3 and weighs 195 pounds." A political advertisement: "Norve Migbatch deserves your vote for City Council. He's 6-foot-2 and weighs 200." A wedding: "Do you take this woman, who is 5-foot-7 and weighs 130, to be your lawful wedded wife?" A baseball announcer: "Craig Kimbrel is coming in to pitch the ninth inning. He's six feet tall and weighs 215."

Or how they were delivered?
Please welcome Kirk McGuinnes, he’s 5’-10” 197 pounds, and arrived at 7:53 a.m. in a Honda Civic. The water taxi wasn’t an option this morning.

We enjoyed the week even though the cottage was not as advertized. It had several steps that made mobility a challenge. But we had a portable ramp which helped. The grandkids were sweet although constantly noisy. Didn't bother me as it was normal kid noises but did get on my wife's nerves. My wife and daughter did not kill each other which is good. They both have strong personalities.

I have no idea why it is shared. It is just customary. And thanx for the congrats but the post you are reading was from last June. :)

The height and weight of sports figures is mentioned frequently. Look at any hockey or baseball card, it is there along with whether he shoots right or left or throws right or left or bats right or left. Boxing and wrestling also feature the weight of the individual.

The heaviest baby ever born weighed 22 pounds, 8 ounces. Yikes! By the way, I'm 5-foot-9 and weigh 205, if anyone cares.

These are all insane. Funny how a bunch of guys can say "what's the big deal?". But delivering a baby is the most difficult thing a human will do. And a big baby born naturally deserves special recognition.

Reporting the height and weight is the best way of indicating the health of the baby. My younger daughter, the 29 year old biologist, was 3 months premature and weighed 1 lb 10 oz. She spent 6 weeks in the hospital before coming home.

It is the third. It is diminishing returns.
The third one is like the third time you watch a good movie.
The first time, you're all excited and you cant wait to tell everyone about it.
The second time you're all excited to see the stuff that you didn't notice the first time.
The third time, you start checking your email and don't hit pause when you have to take a leak.

My oldest brother had his baby's first year journal filled out completely. It had his name, footprint, size & weight, first food, time he crawled, yadda, yadda, up to his first birthday.

My other brother had his filled out up to about his first Christmas.

Mine had my name on it.......
