I like that Canadians call bathrooms washrooms.
It's lot more accurate and civilized at restaurants and public places.
I mean, nobody is really taking a bath at a restaurant.

One of the first times I was commuting down to visit Mrs. IRBS in WV I stopped at a gas station and went in to ask where their washrooms were. The attendant looked at me like I had 2 heads.

Not sure where to post this so I will post this here.

A friend of ours asked us to join him at a NLL game (lacrosse) tonight. We had tickets to the Dodgers vs the Jays on Friday so tonight was clear. I had also bought my son a ticket to the second home playoff game of the Leafs a while back. And the Marlies playoffs dates were unknown because they did not know where they were seeded until the second last game of the season. The date of the Leaf playoff game was also up in the air because until early last week they could have finished in second place. As it turned out the Marlies finished 5th so they had 1 home playoff game (game 2) and it was scheduled Friday. The Leafs finished third and their second home playoff game (game 4) was scheduled tonight Saturday.

So we did not wind up seeing the Dodgers. The Jays lost a sqeaker 10-2 in that one. Who would have bet on that? Well, I know. We saw the Marlies even their series at 1. It was an exciting game decided in OT. The final game is at Bellville tomorrow (Sunday) and as season ticket holders we have been offered seats. We are going.

My son skipped the NLL (Toronto Rock) game to see the Leafs lose tonight to their perennial enemy. No matter how much that team sucks, they always have the Leafs number.

I saw my first Lacrosse game. It was a lot of fun. It was also a playoff game and the Rock won 9-6. I am told this was a low scoring game although I am not sure how. The goalies are huge. Almost as big as the nets.

We also have a Jays game on Tuesday. 3 games in 5 days. I fully expect the Marlies and Leafs to be done soon so scheduling won't be as complicated.

The Marlies lost today so their season is done for the year. They stretched it to OT but it was not to be. I loved the fight during the handshakes though. They issued about 12 penalties (6 on each side) after the winning goal was done. The reason we found out was their was alerts from the AHL app for each penalty. I assume this is for bookkeeping and suspensions. Hurts Bellville more if there are suspensions as they would be during a playoff game.

It's crazy how certain behavior is accepted - even expected - in a particular sport. Fighting in hockey, spitting in baseball, yelling in tennis, dumping the gatorade in football, etc.

I always find it funny when they read the code of conduct before the game that they say all fans and employees are expected to abide by. They list all the behaviours that will get you ejected from the game and over half of them are expected on the ice.

I have started my journey to Mrs. IRBS's West Virginia Memorial. Staying at a very nice hotel in Mississauga (city just west of Toronto). It is closer to my daughter who I will pick up early tomorrow morning.

The service has me fairly stressed as the location of the service in Point Pleasant, WV was a hotel that Mrs. IRBS & I have known for years (Lowe Hotel). It was Mrs. IRBS's selection for where she wanted the service. I have been getting concerned as I have been unable to get a hold of them for a couple of weeks. I got a call this morning from the owner and Mrs. IRBS's friend. Turns out the fire marshal closed them down earlier this spring. They are working on fixing the issues and refiling the paper work. They won't know until tomorrow if they are allowed to open. So I may have to switch venues with very short notice. I am thankful that I will have good cell service in the states. Aside from one person who is travelling cross-country to that hotel my son is the only one who knows what is going on (and he decided he wanted to stay in Toronto -- not cause of this but the whole trip). He tells me that whatever happens will be the way Mrs. IRBS wanted it to happen and I should go with the flow. Good advice but very hard to follow.

The memorial service is Saturday. Location: TBD.

It was a good service and a good weekend. It was good to get back to West Virginia. Emotional but good. I feel better for having done it. The service was actually across the river in Ohio which was not ideal but could not be helped. The weather was fabulous. High 80s all weekend. The hotel we stayed at was very nice and had a great breakfast.

I'm glad it went well, and you dealt with the problems that arose, and now it's behind you. As Mother's Day approached, I thought about you, and how that would be a tough time for you and the kids.
