OK, so this is from my friend's post. She actually shared this video from Kissing Bridge All Seasons Resort. She said where she lived was on the other side of this mountain. (She now lives in Southern NH, in the same town we moved from)

The weird thing is that if I go to the resort's Facebook page via the link in the video, I don't see this graphic anywhere. So I don't know where this video/graphic actually came from.

She may be dealing with some sort of Hot Tub Time Machine scenario.

From a Facebook post:

27 years ago today was Friday, July 23rd, 1999.

I had a work implementation at 6:30PM that night. That finished by about 8PM. I then embarked on an adventure that would change my life. I had been chatting with this woman from West Virginia on ICQ and other forum software for a couple months. We decided it was time to meet in person. So at 8PM on Friday night I headed down to West Virginia. I had studied the maps for about a week and somehow planned the most inefficient route. I also stopped at a lot of rest stops to rest but also call ahead to WV and give progress updates. There were also a couple work calls and a run in with some rednecks. So a 8 hour trip took over 12 hours.

I pulled up to her home on the morning of July 24th shortly after 8:30AM. After the long drive we were going to crash for a nice rest. Then future Mrs. IRBS got a call. The family reunion she said we would attend on Sunday was actually Saturday. So we headed in what is a blur to me to Point Pleasant. I vaguely remember meeting her dad and her sister and brother-in-law.

I had pager duty every third weekend. But on the other weekends, I was down to WV. I fine tuned my route with the help of my future father-in-law and could make it in 7:45 if no blockages. What we both thought was a rebound relationship lasted a lifetime. It all came down to a simple decision to take a long drive.

OMG!!!!!!!!!

If I'm reading this correctly, the first time you met your better half, after a long ass drive, she took you to meet her Dad and other fam cause of a schedule mixup on her part?

DUDE!!!!!!!!! That's shit that would happen to George Costanza that he would explain to the gang in Jerry's living room. Your life is a sitcom.

Future Mrs. IRBS must have been at least as cool and as hot as Pam for you to have put up with that nonsense.

That is truly an amazing story man.

I know you said he wound up being cool and helping with the routes but how did the dad react initially to his daughter bringing a first date to meet him?

From what I remember pretty cool. Although she lived in a very small WV town. And one Friday night as I was arriving I was driving 27 MPH in a 25 MPH zone and I was pulled over. My license was run and a warning given. I later discovered that my father-in-law being big man in small town had the local constabulary run my license to make sure I wasn't some sort of scoundrel.

This story just gets better!

Damn right!

That's what I would do if I were her dad. You're not to be fully trusted. Gotta be put in your place before he can even think of you being with his little girl.

Did he know it was his daughter's mixup? And even if he did I bet he thought she was covering for your crazy Canadian ass.

WHAT A GREAT STORY MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

And did you at least get your first kiss from Mrs. IRBS after she put you through that whole mixup with the reunion? Cause the way you tell it, you deserved it.

They knew I would be at the reunion. The only mixup was the day and the amount of sleep I had prior to meeting them.

Oh ok. Still crazy, but better.

That's sweet. So you two were so into each other that before even meeting in person for the first time you both agreed to meet her fam as part of the first meetup?

I was reading it wrong. I thought you were going to meet and have fun with your first date on Sat and then she would do the reunion thing on Sun after you said your goodbyes.

But the way you two planned it is waaaaaaay cuter. Look at you Mr. Romantic.

You two were infatuated with each other before the first irl meeting.

That's so sweet.

Of course I knew that about her, but well done you man. I would have never guessed you had that in ya.

At first, it sounded crazy to drive from Toronto to WV. But looking on a map, it's not that far. The northeast US really goes east, making a place like WV really far from me. But Toronto seems like just one state away, because it’s sitting right over it.

Enquiring minds want to know...
I was heading south on I77 in Ohio. Some yahoos in a pickup pulled up behind me and followed. Would not pass and if I sped up they did too. So I took an exit hoping to just hop back on I77 south again but the exit I chose had no south access. I had to turn back north and backtrack for about 15 miles until I could turn around. The rednecks also took the exit but went a different way. In retrospect they probably were taking the next exit so were not going to pass. But it was 5AM and I was a bit loopy by then.

16 hours of driving 2 or 3 weekends a month? That's a lonnnnnnnnnng drive. But obviously worth it <3
Also before sat radio. FM and cassettes. I got to the point where I pretty much knew were all the good FM (relatively speaking) stations were on the route and when I could pick them up. Found myself listening to some country around Pittsburgh. The country they were playing was better than any of the pop/rock I found. At that time half the stations were broadcasting "Delilah". A syndicated DJ doing love songs.

She was in the northwest corner of WV right on the Ohio River. About 800km. Most of that driving is getting around the stupid lakes. Adds about an hour to the drive. A bridge over Lake Eire would save about that. Of course getting any bridge built to/from the USA now is pretty much out of the question.
