Watch Out For That...

In high school, I had to memorize Rudyard Kipling's poem If: "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you,..." I hadn't thought about that poem for many years – until today when I saw this story:

Erythritol, an ingredient in stevia, linked to heart attack and stroke, study finds

“The degree of risk was not modest. People with existing risk factors for heart disease were twice as likely to experience a heart attack or stroke if they had the highest levels of erythritol in their blood."

Looks like my soda is good though:

Do Zevia's products contain erythritol?

Zevia products are solely sweetened by highly-purified stevia extract. Unlike some other products sweetened by stevia, Zevia does not contain any "bulking agents" such as erythritol, and is naturally sweetened. All Zevia beverages are zero sugar, zero calories and naturally sweetened. Zevia beverages contain a handful of simple, plant-based ingredients and are Non-GMO Project verified.

Everything wants us dead.
I can't worry too much about what's next on the list of things we shouldn't eat. Next month they will switch everything on the good list with the bad list. We'll all get spun up, change our diets, and then they swap the lists back again next year.
