I only saw the knicks last 3 minutes. The wife is jazzed for the cup. I will drive around town like I was the hoops logo.
The interesting part is that the Knicks also won the NBA Cup.
Soccer fans know the importance of winning multiple titles per season (there's at least four in England and it's rare to win the three big ones simultaneously), but considering the NBA's weak attempt at an in-season tournament, it's doubtful the American audience catches on.
The closest thing American sports would have had would have been back when MLB didn't play interleague. The best replication would have been to have teams play within their leagues Friday-Sunday and to play interleague Tuesday and Wednesday with teams being eliminated from interleague play as the season progressed. Teams would have to decide to chase one trophy over the other *or* be talented enough to go for both...and probably end up failing to win either.
