Let's not forget Disney's 1940 classic Fantasia (which is properly pronounced "fan-ta-SEE-ah," not "fan-TAY-zha"). It includes works from Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Mussorgsky and Saint-Saëns.

Artists (meaning painters or sculptors, shit like that Not actors and musicians or any of that type.)
Hectic's Mom (that would be a pretty quick madness though).
Extinct animals.
Roman Empire historical real life leaders or influential people.
Famous worldwide people currently incarcerated.
Home console video games (for all consoles of all time).
Catholic Saints.
Influential historical American women throughout our entire history.

That's just a few. I like the American women, Romans and Hectic's Mom ones the most.

but I suggest we do not include any political figures

That's a good idea but we could probably pick a time where it's ok to pick politically involved women if they fall prior to it.

Like the Suffragette Susan B. Anthony or something. Or to be safe maybe Abigale Adams.

Years ago, I thought about creating a separate Madness category for music.

Music Madness Thread

Really, the only music-themed Madness game we had was “Best Beatles Album,” and then I merged it with the rest of the regular Madness games.

Out of 41 Madness themes, 13 were music-related.

  1. Music #1
  2. Music #2
  3. Albums
  4. Billboard All-Time 128 Songs
  5. DRC All-Time Favorite Songs
  6. TV Theme Songs
  7. Two-Hit Wonders
  8. I Can't Believe It Wasn't A Top 40
  9. Artists/Bands That Aren't In The RRHOF Yet
  10. Movie Musicals
  11. Best Beatles Album
  12. Best #1 Songs of The 80s
  13. Best #1 Songs of The 70s

Introducing the 14th theme aka as Madness #42 is a voting poll to determine the next theme. -> DRC Madness #42

Below are your voting theme options. If you vote “Other,” please list which music category you would like to see. The voting poll will remain open until the end of May. The winning choice will become the next theme.

Best #1 Song of the ’90s
Best Instrumentals
Favorite Musicians
Movie Soundtracks
Other Music Categories

Examples of music categories include:

  • Blues
  • Country
  • Electronic
  • Folk
  • Hip-Hop/Rap
  • Jazz
  • Pop
  • R&B & Soul
  • Rock
  • Metal
  • Punk
  • etc.

I thought of a possible future theme: “Who Did It Best?”

I was thinking of taking all of the winners from all 21 volumes and having them compete to determine who is the ultimate “Who Did It Best?” winner. Of course, we’d need additional volumes for them to compete in the madness! It’s been several years, so some people may not have voted yet, while others might want to change their decisions.

In the meantime, here are the current results.

I do not like Bruce Springsteen and I do not like his version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. My favorite versions are these:

Here is a fab, groovy, boss, bitchin' idea: We could vote for our favorite album tracks that got a lot of airplay on top-40 stations but were never released as singles, such as Andy Williams' Moon River, Stevie Wonder's Isn't She Lovely, Elton John's Candle In The Wind and Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven, Jethro Tull's Thick As A Brick, the Eagles' Desperado, the Doors' L.A. Woman, the Bee Gees' More Than A Woman, the Rolling Stones' Sympathy For The Devil and the Beatles' Michelle, Here Comes The Sun and A Day In The Life.
