Congratulations, Koop!
This week's subject is John Henry, the billionaire owner of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
He was born to a farming family in Quincy, Illinois in 1949. He got into investing, and his company would make him a billionaire.
He's most-noted as the owner of the Sox, which he purchased in 2001 with several other investors, namely TV producer Tom Werner and the New York Times Company. That company is now known as Fenway Sports Group, whose assets include the Red Sox, a portion of NASCAR's RFK Racing with Jack Roush and racer Brad Keselowski, and the soccer team Liverpool F.C.
Last week, Fenway sold the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins the Hoffmann family for $1.7 billion. The Hoffmanns also announced the purchase of Audacy's radio stations in St. Louis this past week.
New game next week!
