Congratulations, Wolf!

With the heat dome ravaging the U.S., this week's subject is a friendly reminder that Christmas is just 170 days away. Eggnog is that frosty holiday treat that has made the holidays special for centuries. Its origin is disputed and its recipe differs from locality to locality. While your local supermarket only sells the non-alcoholic version during the holidays, chances are that the party store down the street sells the boozed-up original year round.

Bottoms up!

Congratulations, Wolf! But what the heck is a "nog"? Can you notice when your eggnog doesn't contain enough nogs? The Christmas Central site explains: "The 'nog' in eggnog may refer to a 'noggin,' a small wooden mug, or 'grog,' an old term for watered-down rum. What started as 'egg-n-grog' eventually became eggnog." I favor the first explanation.

Thanks guys and King Santa!!!

I love eggnog, I usually make a pretty good every year.

I usually put my partners dad liquor in it and it's the only way I can drink it. Since Johnnie Walker Black taste like gasoline.

Usually, it is. I like to change it up every now and then.

Plus, it's the only liquor my partner's dad will drink. I tried it with rum, and it was good, but Johnnie Walker Black made it taste stronger.

He usually finish the whole water pitcher in one day, whenever I put it in it.

Perhaps due to my Jewish upbringing, I don't like it, nor did I have it growing up. It could also be related to my near death experience with white Russians in college (the drink, not the people).

Kroger (Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less) makes a vanilla egg nog and a cinnamon egg nog that I really like. I would buy them year-round if they were sold year-round but they aren't. They're available only in November-December. Here is an eggnog recipe that claims to be "the best." Is it? Is it really? Who says?

Like is not the word I would use for it. I find it tolerable and usually I drink it just to be polite. There are much better alcohol choices I prefer. White Russians is not one of them. The most shitfaced I got was from B-52s. My friends had to carry me out of the bar.

We met girls at a college mixer who were drinking white Russians, so we bought a couple of rounds for everyone. But that was after I drank probably a pint of whiskey. I was found passed out in the men's room.
The B-52 choice was made by the cute waitress at the bar. I had started the night with Rye and Cokes. For some reason I drank rye at that time. I hated the taste but just figured it was a necessary evil to getting drunk. And by the 3rd drink I usually stopped tasting it.

A bunch of us in high school got zonked on sloe gin fizzes. It started at a guy's house, and then they were driving around with it. Those were the days.
