Any United States President can rename an American mountain, lake or geographic landmark and federal agencies will have to update their maps and records – but cities, states, private companies, global news organizations and other nations do not have to follow the federal name change. They can stick with the original name. Rand McNally continues to use the name "Lake Ontario." Google Maps and Apple Maps are using the "Lake America" name but only for users in the United States. Users outside the United States continue to see the lake's original name.

A Rand-McNally road map was parodied in a 1979 issue of National Lampoon – and I can't find it online. Drat! But you can at least read about it:

Good job Wolf! For a while, I was thinking that the company had roots in Maine. Near the LL Bean stores, there's this building with a big globe called Eartha. But it's from the company DeLorme (now Garmin). Thanks for the game 98!
