If Howard goes to XM, Sirius probably fades away and everything eventually gets signed up by XM. Does XM eventually fade away? Who knows.

If Howard went to neither, nothing drastic would have happened.

It's like saying "If I walk around the block counter-clockwise, about halfway around the block, a car will almost cut me off as I cross the street and i'll slip on the ice and break my leg. However, if I walk around the block clockwise, that same car will be there. However, I could be slightly ahead of the car, or slightly behind the car. If i'm slightly ahead of the car, the situation could be better, or worse. If i'm behind the car, the situation could be better, or worse."

It's all speculation. Did Howard (and his subscribers) play a big role in the merger? Yes. Were Howard and subscribers 100% the reason for everything "Sirius" on "XM Everything" or "Best of Sirius?" Probably not.

Wha, Wha, What did he say again????????

Hey Now

Actually, I enjoyed the music in the background during his plugs, replete with Robin's laugh and the occasional Howard imitation of Jackie. The crew come to life when they get to make fun of Jackie, even in the most heated moments when it appeared their was some true anger and bitterness coming from Howard, it invariably ended up as a ball busting fest against Jackie, which made for funny radio.

Almost every aspect of Artie's last three plus years has been an incredible bummer. And when it hasn't been tragic, it's been boring. But...there's still tons of people that think his nodding off in the studio is radio gold, people that still post here from time to time, so who the fuck can account for taste?

Artie is the "still living" microcosm of the embodiment of the Howard Stern Show. It ain't dead it, but it might as well be, and at times it would appear that it also wants to be.

Fecking brilliant, your onto something here.

I think I may have heard someone on HS3 talking about how Howard may have been the pioneer of Reality Programming, might even have been Jackie.

But lately there is nothing real about the show, artie and his drug and alcohol absences were glossed over and down played, now Howard wont even discuss it. Private family matter, BS ask Tiger Woods if that line works, it certainly isn't flying on the Howard Stern Show with the 100,000 dollar Tiger Woods Mistresses Beauty Pageant. I wonder if anyone would put up 100,000 to parade arties drug dealers around, doubt it.

You hit the nail on the head with your description of how boring the whole artie has been for over 3 years. I tuned it out many, many times and when I returned a month later it was like I never left, I didn't miss a thing but more of the same boring radio. Howard tip toeing around the elephant in the room, arties's drug and alcohol problems and lack of desire to come to work for 20 hours a week all while artie was telling everyone how lucky he was to have the best job in radio but never missing a stand up job, BS.

But the 'true' fans just kept sucking it up, coming back for more and defending their little dough boy druggie who must have a cold or works to hard, and is so stressed out by it all, it just cant be drugs & alcohol.

When & if Howard resigns the 'true fans will tune in daily and those who have never heard Howard when he was in his prime will be convinced by the noise the 'true' fans make that this is the best radio human kind has ever been exposed to.

Sign me just another disappointed Howard Stern fan who was around when Howard, Robin,Fred & Jackie were making radio history.

Good post. Listening to someone self destruct is not my idea of fun.

Artie volunteered that information. He'll sell a book containing exactly the stupid story that got him into the hospital. Like fucking morons, we'll buy it.

This "hospital" trip might just be smoke and mirrors while they make up a PR release for why he's leaving the Stern show. The fact that all his appearances were canceled before all this suggests foresight.

Such a joke. If they had talked about Artie, it would be "enough of the Artie soap opera, we just like it when Howard bullshits without guests".

Kingofnic "ain't even listening..." but knows exactly whats happening on the show... and then complains that Howard isn't honest. LOL

You are all so sick of the show but will still be here tomorrow and the next day and next week too. and the next contract as well... Suckers

I still like the show... but I'm also critical of it. It's changed a LOT over the last 5 years. I went from never missing a minute to not really caring if I miss most of the week. There's reason behind all the criticism and it's not just blind hatred.

So Ellis' Show for example, must be SO GOOD that there's nothing to complain about, seeing that that forum is mostly complimentary, but Howard's show is so bad it requires thread after thread of criticism, yet you all still listen?

You just seem like an asshole who likes to stir up shit. Just my opinion

Who is sick of the show? Many of us have criticisms of aspects of the show, which seems only natural. It's weird you are keeping track of blanket statements, which are usually posted out of frustration with the show.

So you're a casual listener who spend a lot of time in a Stern-related forum responding at length about people's opinions about the show? I wish I had your kind of time, sir! :p

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. If you only want positive things said about Howard, go to sfn. I've heard they delete any thread that isn't a complete ass-kissing of Howard and the gang.

If you want people to talk honestly about the show then you come here where the moderators respect everyones opinion and let's them express it freely without bringing down the iron fist.

Lately, Howard has become somewhat lazy. I have grown disinterested in the show as of late and only get info from this forum to keep up to date, just incase there might be something that does interest me. There are obviously others who share my sentiment but are more vocal about it.

Scionic, if what people are saying angers you so much that you need to make long winded posts bitching about their opinions then it might be in your best interest to avoid this forum completely.
