The other day, my partner and I watched the 2025 remake of The Running Man, originally released in 1987. The film was freaking great fast-paced, intense, and surprisingly engaging from start to finish. It stayed much closer to Stephen King’s original novel, which made the story feel darker, sharper, and more impactful than the earlier adaptation. While honoring the core concept of the original film, it successfully updated the action and themes for a modern audience. I was thoroughly entertained and would totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys high-energy sci-fi thrillers. I’d absolutely watch it again.

Another show I started was "Ponies" on Peacock.
It's kind've like Get Smart. The wives of secret agents whose husbands get killed and then they become the secret agents.
Lots of good 70's music too. In the pilot, I heard Prelude "After the Goldrush" which was a #1 song around here in 74. I forgot about that song.

So far, on my list, the Oscar should go to F1. I remember doing a review of Frankenstein, which I can dig up later. I can’t recall whether I did one for F1 or Sinners. Sinners was interesting, and I know it did really well at the box office. When I watched it, though, I felt like I might have been missing something. I’ll have to watch it again.

So far my 2026 Oscar Ranks

1. F1
2. Sinners
5. Frankenstein

Frankenstein, what I recall the acting was good. It's not Oscar award winning material.

I have not seen one of those movies. I have seen previews for a couple of them but none caught my interest from the preview.

Free Solo was really good. It was fun to watch so maniac (who is quite likable) decide to climb some really tall cliff w/o ropes. I'm sorry I missed it in IMAX, that would have been cool.

Free solo was cool about going up.

I'm now watching more or less the same thing about going down: The Deepest Breath.

It's about free diving (going as deep as possible in the ocean without a tank). It's a fascinating watch but when you boil it down, both movies are about insane people.

If you're going to make your profession doing something stupid that has a very high chance of killing you every time you do it, at least pick something cool like Evil Knievel.

Holy fuck A House of Dynamite is tense as fuck.

I'm about halfway and Kathryn Bigelow is so good at making movies!

It's on Netflix.

I have 15 mins left and now I know what it's like when most of the girls I've talked to tell me about feeling anxious all the time.

Have you seen this Aaron???????

Last night, I watched FX’s newest show, The Beauty, starring Evan Peters, Rebecca Hall, Anthony Ramos, and Ashton Kutcher. So far, they’ve dropped three episodes on Hulu and Disney+. I don’t want to give too much away, but the show kind of feels like Death Becomes Her meets the TV series Fringe.

The cast also includes Isabella Rossellini, who famously appeared in Death Becomes Her, which feels like a fun nod. John Carroll Lynch guest stars in a couple of episodes as well.

The show is still very much a mystery, and it takes a few episodes to start piecing things together. After watching a couple, you begin to get a clearer sense of what’s really going on, but there’s still plenty left to unravel along with some seriously messed-up scenes.

I did see it. Without giving away the ending, did you like the ending?

Yes.

What about you? Your movie opinions probably carry more weight than all of ours put together around here.

I thought that the ending was bullshit.

I still like Hectic's previous comment about House of Dynamite.

I thought it was the perfect cherry on top of a movie that was full of painfully tense, anger inducing, fear of the unknown and indecision.

Like I said, I hate and love this movie. In the moment I hated everything about most of it. Having a few hours to reflect I think it was the perfect ending to my favorite movie of 2025.

Bigelow is way better than her ex these days. One of them is making me feel things movies rarely, if ever, make me feel. The other is remixing Dances with Wolves with blue Indians every few years.

That free climber guy may die live on Netflix tonight.

Alex Honnold, that climbed El Capitan in "Free Solo", is climbing Taipei 101 tonight on a live TV.
Well, nearly live. I think that there is a 9 second delay or something.

Will he make it? Or?
