OK, I'm going to make an early bullshit call on this. There's some majorly well-known, iconic music in this list. I implore you to check these out.

I'm sure I've heard some of my 37 "?" songs. Problem is, I either don't recognize them by name, or can't remember how the song goes.

Here are songs I've probably heard and just don't remember them well enough to rate them:

38 DE ARETHA FRANKLIN - (You Make Me Feel Like) A NATURAL WOMAN (I know Carole King's, not sure if I've heard Aretha's version)

21 21 BOOKER T. & THE M.G.’s - GROOVIN’ (is this the "on a sunday afternoon/couldn't get away too soon" song? if so 4-stars)

11 22 LULU - TO SIR WITH LOVE (this title looks very familiar but no idea how it goes)

06 07 JACKIE WILSON - (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) HIGHER AND HIGHER (I know the Rita Coolidge song named this, is hers a cover?)

02 03 THE ASSOCIATION - NEVER MY LOVE (I remember talking about how this was the #2 most played song on radio of all time and how I was surprised that I'd never heard it (up to that point). I know I listened to it during that discussion, but I can't get the melody in my head today.)

01 01 THE BOX TOPS - THE LETTER (is this the "don't have time to catch an airplane/fast train" song? if so, 3-stars)

Yes, the Rita Coolidge song is a remake of the Jackie Wilson song and the Booker T. & The MG's song is an instrumental version of the Young Rascals song. To Sir With Love, written by Don Black and Mark London, is the title song of a 1967 movie starring Sidney Poitier as a new teacher at a London secondary school filled with troublemakers, bullies and hooligans. To Sir With Love was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in October-November 1967 but – surprisingly – never appeared on the adult contemporary chart.

- You Make Me Feel - written by Carole King/Gerry Goffin for Aretha Franklin in 1967. King did a version for Tapestry in 1971.
- I guess this version of Groovin' is instrumental. I listened and it sounded like nothing to me.
- To Sir with Love - I've heard the movie title, but didn't connect it with a song. However, when I played the song, it sounded very familiar to me.
- Higher and Higher - Yes, this is the original.
- Never My Love - A classic and iconic song of the 60s. It was one of my earliest memories as a kid. The song was big back then.
- The Letter - Yes, it's the My Baby Wrote Me a Letter song.

And the others I mentioned, like these

09 14 THE YOUNG RASCALS - HOW CAN I BE SURE
07 05 DIANA ROSS AND THE SUPREMES - REFLECTIONS

don't ring a bell by name, but I certainly know the songs when I listen. They are really big hits from that time. And of course everyone knows this, right?

03 02 BOBBIE GENTRY - ODE TO BILLIE JOE

You may not like it, but I'm pretty sure it's a song everyone knows.

In Ode To Billie Joe, Bobbie Lee Hartley and Billie Joe McAllister throw something off the Tallahatchie Bridge. Bobbie Gentry's lyrics focused on the family's casual indifference to grief and she never revealed what was thrown off the bridge. Flowers? A ring? A baby? The song inspired Ode To Billy Joe, a 1976 movie starring Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor – and the object thrown off the bridge was Bobbie Lee's rag doll.
