33. ALPHABET ST. - PRINCE

My son started mimicking Prince (AH! UGH!) and then said 'This was a top 40?!' This song is from one of four consecutive Price albums that I thought were terrible.
Glad I'm not the only one.
#64 David Lee Roth "Stand Up"
Surprised it made it that far up the list.
#71 New Order "Blue Monday 1988"
Surprised it wasn't higher.
#73 Depeche Mode "Route 66/Behind The Wheel"
Seems about right.
#93 John Mellencamp "Rooty Toot Toot"
Shocked it broke 200.

Only surprise for me. The bubbling under sucked almost as much as the top 40.

The only two 'never will make the top 40' songs I like are Depeche And Maniacs.... and I didn't know those songs in '88, I heard them a year or two later.

Sandman, pre Morphine!
Good shiz.

Listening for the first time now. I'm not a blues-rock fan at all, but this is good!

I call it great stuff that must be played loud.
I saw them in Chicago back in the 90's.
About 6 months later I ran into them in the airport in Copenhagen Denmark.
We were in a line next to theirs. We decided to say hi, & let em know we had recently seen them stateside. They were a bit shocked that we recognized them. (In a good way, he said.) Usually after they were away from the concert venue, he said people never knew who they were. To be recognized in Denmark was pretty trippy for them. We chatted for a minute or so and got back in our line. They were on their way to Denmark's Roskilde Festival via Amsterdam. \m/,

Couldn't figure out who this was. My best guess (though I knew it was wrong) was Arcadia. Shocked to discover it was this guy.

Later sampled by Bone Thugs & Harmony. Phil with one of the rappers, presumably at 'tha crossroads' on the '1st of tha month'. *rimshot*
