There have been at least 12 different songs titled Hold My Hand: Fats Waller (1938), Don Cornell (1954), the Rutles (1978), Bobby Hutcherson (1979), Ken Dodd (1981), Hootie & The Blowfish (1994), Sean Paul (2009), Michael Jackson/Akon (2010), Joanna Smith (2011), the Fray (2014), Jess Glynne (2015) and Lady Gaga (2022).
Here is Fats Waller's Hold My Hand (Victor 26045), recorded September 21, 1938. He and his band played this song many times on the 1936-39 CBS Radio weekly series Saturday Night Swing Club. In 1938, Billboard had a weekly top 20 radio airplay chart and a top 15 "Music Box Machine" chart (renamed "Most Played In Juke Boxes" in 1944). This song did not make either chart.
