hwkn, I don't blame you for skipping Do It. The lyrics were really dumb: "Do it while your soul's still burnin'. Don't hide the yearnin' away. Say what you wanna say, 'cause if you let her go, you'll always know you blew it."

Do It, written by Neil Diamond was the B-side of Diamond's first hit, Solitary Man, released in April 1966. Both songs appeared on his horribly-titled debut album The Feel Of Neil Diamond, released August 12, 1966. Diamond recorded two more albums for Bang. In March 1968, Diamond left Bang and signed with MCA's Uni label. Bang then began re-releasing Diamond's singles for the label and releasing album tracks as singles. Do It peaked at #36 on the December 19 1970 Hot 100.

Keith Allison, a regular on ABC-TV's Where The Action Is from 1965 to 1967 and bassist with Paul Revere & The Raiders from 1968 to 1975, recorded Do It for his album Keith Allison In Action – get it? – released in January 1967. The album also includes a remake of the Monkees' 1966 number-one hit I'm A Believer, written by Neil Diamond. In 1967, Diamond recorded his own version for his second Bang album.

That is the date of the AT40 but it is not the billboard chart from that date. It is the top 50 songs of 1979. They usually do 100 but in 1979 they only did 50 and did a decade countdown a week later (based upon Casey's teaser). Here is the Top 50.
