Cannon, born Frederick Anthony Picariello Jr., had eight top-40 hits, 1959-65. Three made the top ten: Tallahassee Lassie, Palisades Park and Way Down Yonder In New Orleans. Among his other hits are Transistor Sister and Action, the theme song of ABC-TV's 1965-67 pop music variety show Where The Action Is.

(KRTH, formerly KHJ-FM, switched to an oldies format in 1972, got rid of all the pre-1964 oldies in 2005, gradually phased out the 1964-69 music and added more 1980s-90s and is now classic hits.) The CD includes Freddy Cannon's K-Earth tribute. sung to the tune of Palisades Park.

Here is Freddy Cannon's final chart hit, Let's Put The Fun Back In Rock N Roll. He's backed by the Belmonts. This peaked at #81 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #77 on the Cash Box Top 100 in October 1981.
