Slave formed in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio. Slide, their first single, went to number one on Billboard's R&B chart and #32 on the Hot 100 in July 1977. Steve Washington and two other members left in 1979 to form Aurra with singer Curt Jones and keyboardist Philip Fields. Among Aurra's R&B hits are Make Up Your Mind, Such A Feeling, Are You Single, A Little Love and In The Mood To Groove.
