Here is an odd coincidence. Each year, hurricanes and tropical storms in the Atlantic and Pacfic are named in alphabetical order. The names repeat every six years. There have been three tropical storms so far this year: Arthur, Bertha and Cristobal. The next one will be Dolly!

Fifth. I loved Curry's portrayals of Rooster in Annie (1982), Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island (1996) and Gomez Addams in Addams Family Reunion (1998). The commercial for the video release of Addams Family Reunion uses the word "spooktacular." Sorry, that word was not clever the first ten thousand times I heard it.

So far this year, Tim Curry died at 80, Dolly Parton died at 80, Davey Lopes died at 80, horror film actor Reggie Bannister died at 80, record producer Jack Douglas died at 80, political commentator Michael Reagan died at 80, Ronettes vocalist Nedra Talley died at 80, Emergency! actor Randolph Mantooth died at 80, Father Knows Best actor Lauren Chapin died at 80, Canadian writer-broadcaster David Cayley died at 80, Italian actor Silvia Monti died at 80, Italian actor Antonio Marsina died at 80, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Kidder died at 80 and Belgian writer, actor and pie-throwing activist Noël Godin died at 80.
 
That seems like a lot, and maybe it is. But I'd also guess that 80 is pretty high on the probability list too, for people born around 80 years ago. In other words, if you're 50 now, then by the time you're 80, it might be more common to die at 90. But for people pushing 80 now, that might be the most common longevity for that generation.
 
The Social Security Administration maintains a Life Table. No, that is not something you buy at an Ashley store. This shows the average life expectancy of men and women in the United States, District of Columbia and U.S. territories plus Armed Forces personnel in other countries and U.S. citizens living in other countries, from birth to age 119. A 50-year-old man will, on average, live another 29.9 years. An 80-year-old woman will, on average, live another 9.82 years.

 
That term "on average" is deceptive, though. Because it factors-in all the things that might happen to a 50 year old man. Like suicide, drug overdose, hit by car, cancer, heart attack, or going over a cliff on a Segway. It doesn't equate with longevity.

"Dolly Parton, who died Tuesday at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer, has another piece of music waiting for fans. An unreleased song titled My Place In History remains locked inside a chestnut box at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Parton wrote and recorded the song in 2015, the year the resort opened, with instructions that the box remain sealed until January 19, 2046, which would have marked her 100th birthday."
