College Football 2026 (and other college sports 26-27)

Previously in the Random Sports Thread:
Michigan beats Western Michigan on a hail mary with an extra second put on the clock but lose to Iowa and Minnesota
NC State loses a sure win when the QB fumbles in the end zone
Texas/Alabama/Georgia/Notre Dame/Indiana remain unbeaten

Now:
College Football Week 6
In a Big 10 clash: Ucla beats Oregon to remain undefeated. Sets up an opportunity with the Badgers 4-1 going to the Rose Bowl against undefeated Ucla. I am glad they are playing in the Rose Bowl. There was all the talk in the summer that Ucla was going to play their games at Rams stadium (So Fi). And though it may be a techy and incredible looking stadium, it would not have the Rose Bowl charm for the visiting northerners wanting to see the afternoon games overlooking the mountain side. The Badger game will take a backseat to Indiana/Ohio State next week.
With Indiana coming back down 11 in the 4th quarter to Nebraska. That looked like a really good game. While Minnesota after beating Michigan last week lost badly to Purdue. That's what happens when you have a hyperreactive head coach that talks about changing culture but not consistency. But it proves Purdue is not an instant win. Then Texas and Alabama lost which really opens the playoff picture.

I'm glad your Wisconsin team is off to a good start, but the next few games will be tough.
Feel like PJ Fleck is at the ceiling with Minnesota. Whatever they've been doing, those 8-5 and 9-4 seasons are probably the best Minnesota can accomplish on a regular basis. UCLA must be the surprise team of 2026 so far.

It is a miracle considering they struggled to even get a first down last year. 8-4 would be great if they can get through these next three games.
And yes it is nice UCLA is doing well

I would have liked to have found the clip on the previous play where the Penn State cornerback broke up the pass and stared down Kayden Dixon Wyatt and followed him back to the huddle, to only get burned on the next play

College Football Week 7 Preview:
The big game in the Big 10 will be Indiana at Ohio State on Fox Noon Kickoff. For the best team in the Big 10. Indiana undefeated (defending National Champs) came back in the 4th quarter at Nebraska last week. I saw the Ohio State at Texas game in Week 1 where Ohio State was blowing Texas away in the first half then their young defense collapsed in the 4th quarter with a few bad breaks. Regardless, both teams should be in the playoffs.

Then Wisconsin with its improved 4-1 record and UCLA undefeated earned the night primetime game on NBC. I just need to adjust my indoor antenna to the right after watching the Fox channel game on the left. This game is at the Rose Bowl and will have an equivalent setting to the New Years Day Bowl game. It will be 4:30pm in Pasadena and 6:30pm in Madison. I'm guessing the sunset in mid-October would be around the same time as the sunset on January 1st when the Rose Bowl game starts at 2:30pm in Pasadena and 4:30pm in the Midwest. So the game will start in daytime and end after sunset. I still do not know what to think of the Badgers. The win over Penn State was uplifting but then Penn State has yet to win a Big 10 game yet. And UCLA beat Oregon so they are for real.
