Concerts you have attended?

This has never happened. Usually when you call you get a busy signal or you don't know the answer. Today I called a radio station and won Journey tickets. It was hard since I was driving. We had a bad connection. But I had the right song "Loving Touching Squeezing" so I won. Show is in November. Suspect it will be good seats. And FREE! This will be the second time I have seen Journey. Journey was the very last concert I saw with my wife in 2023.

• Honeymoon Suite & Streetheart [05/16 Casino Rama, Orillia, ON]

This show was last night. As usual the venue was top notch. Our seats were really good. We were in the lowest section of the stadium seating (one section behind the floor seat section) dead centre stage. The section was behind the sound and video control centre. We were row 11 so had clear view of the stage. Most of the artists make a point to comment on how much they love the location and the support staff. Streetheart did that and also thanked the indian tribe which owns the land and the casino which contains the theatre. I will discuss both artist separately.

Streetheart

Here is the setlist:

I was disappointed they did not do "Here Comes The Night". But as the opener they had to do an abbreviated set list. I have seen them before. They were as good this time as the last. It was this band that my son came to see. One thing I observed which was different, the guitarist was a leftie. His guitar was backwards with the long narrow part going on to his right side and being squeezed with his right hand while his left hand did the strumming. I think this may have been the first backwards guitar player I have ever seen or at least noticed. Streetheart did not do any instrument solos but they did redo the last verse chorus of some of their songs with a different arrangement. I am not a fan of this although it beats a instrument solo.

First off, have I mentioned how much I hate instrument solos? They featured 4 in a 1 hour show. I have seem them before. I like them then. This time, the music was still good but there were several issues that detracted from my enjoyment.

• The lead singer decided he had to use a corded microphone with a really long cord so he could walk it, with the stand, from one end of the stage to the other. Streetheart had used exclusively cordless mics for everybody. The other members of Honeymoon Suite were also using cordless mics. It looked very 1970ish. Also naturally he would get the cords tangled around speakers and the poor roadie was constantly freeing him. He also seemed to be displaying growing frustration with the cord and the roadie during the concert which was stupid since I assume the corded mic was his choice.
• The lead singer seemed to be generally unhappy with the idea of performing or perhaps the restrictions on length of setlist. Their setlist was abreviated as well. Likely due to Rama trying to make their concerts no longer than 2 hours. At any rate his irritation was noted and was a detraction from the concert experience.
• The sound guy was absolutely horrible. He had his volume to 11 and there was distortion throughout the night. No actual feedback but heavy distortion. This did not leave a good impression.

I think I will pass on Honeymoon Suite in the future.

So I do this really dumb thing.

Pam tells me DMB is her fav band.......She also tells me she can't go to the show and I should not buy the tickets.....Guess what my dumbass does?

I buy the tix and hope she can figure it out by the concert date and then when she doesn't I get grumpy with her.

Totally not her fault. I just get this romantic vision of dancing with her and cant help myself. We went in 24 and it was awesome. I posted pics here.

Anyway, she cant go. So I have 2 really good tix. I'm not sure what to do. Should I sell one and go by myself or sell both?

Dave was my gateway drug into all things jam bands so I do dig him. But if I didn't have Pam I would have never bought them in the first place. And I'm cool with going to shows alone, I went to both Goose shows alone and they were amazing.......but Dave is a different vibe.

So what do you all suggest? Should I go solo or sell both tix?

As much as it's fun to see them live (I saw them with my daughter), I suspect the odds of getting into some kind of trouble going solo is pretty high.

My Sweets is taking me to Bratfest today so I'll see some music concerts today. But the Brats are $5 now. Jeez! And I'm only getting one otherwise I'll probably get a tummy ache. If I'm good, she might take me to the movies afterwards.

I should check and see if they are having the CrusherFest in South Milwaukee this summer. They have it every other year. I've been there to see his statue but never been to the music festival. The Crusher loved the Polka.

Saturday at the Bratfest, we heard The Ron Denson Trio. They were supposed to be 60's and 70's cover but ended up being 70's, 80's and a little current stuff including 3 songs heard on the Coffeehouse. Then we heard some members of the Wisconsin Band (not in full uniform, good for them it was too hot). They played "On Wisconsin" "Tequila" "The Horse" "Straight Up-Paula Abdul" and 'Time Warp" without Bucky Badger dancing like Rocky Horror. The next group was Dem Horny Funkers, a horn and electric guitar group playing 80's including "Don't You Forget About Me". We were going to check out The Bedspreads but it was time to go to our movie. (Continued on 2026 Movies and TV Shows thread)

We were planning to see The Lovin Spoonful and fireworks Sunday night but my Sweetie came home sick. While I was at home watching The Indy 500 and Canadian Grand Prix, she volunteered in the afternoon to work the Roasted Corn booth and got overheated and dehydrated by the sun. It can be a hard transition in Wisconsin when we go from cool weather to hot weather. But at least yesterday I told her the story of Essra Mohawk (ABC Schoolhouse Rock fame) missing her gig in the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival because her driver went the wrong way and John Sebastian filled in from the audience. I would have gone if John Sebastian was still with the group but instead, I can stay home and watch the Las Vegas Knights in the playoffs
