It must be a western part of the US thing, but I don’t see two car garages with one garage door in the eastern US. Homes east of Colorado seen to have two garage doors as opposed to one large door
Thanks. I mentioned the occupancy permit in post 316.WOW! You're actually living in the new place now?!? This is great news 10 months in the making since you started updating us here and probably much longer for you. I will miss the updates. The place turned out great. Really a beautiful home. CONGRATS!
I think on some smaller 2-car garages they use 1 door. Around here, you want a weathertight door, and only open what you need. Also, winter weather and temps put strain on the door mechanism, so it's better to have a smaller, lighter door. Plus (and this may be the biggest reason) a single door doesn't go with the traditional historic home styles, like the colonial, cape, and victorian. It must be a western part of the US thing, but I don’t see two car garages with one garage door in the eastern US. I think it's a different kind of cold than in the east, and it's mostly due to the elevation, so it's not the norm. Same with the need for a soffit. But again, a single, wide door has a contemporary look, which fits with the more recently settled parts of the country. And as Hectic said, the old houses in the east started with just a single bay.my mom lives in Colorado Springs, where it can get pretty damn cold and snowy, yet they have a one door, two car garage.

It's an extra $20, and I believe that's every year, but compared to the registration renewal that's minor. And it goes to this:Looks like a good day to drive with the top down.
Was that plate a one time or yearly payment? When I was in PA I had a cool owl plate and it was a 1 one time payment to get it. Down here in FL I wanted to get the manatee plate they have but I was told it's a yearly fee so I passed.
There are about as many Red Lobsters in Maine as there are Taco Bells in Cancun. Also preferred parking at Red Lobster during shrimp week.
