All I wanted was some steak
Our front porch lights are on a sensor, and the other day I noticed they went on at just before 7 pm. As the year progresses, the light comes into our house at varying points and angles. It kind of emphasizes the change of seasons.
Though it may be getting darker faster, it was a wonderful day. We need a post for it was perfect weather conditions today. Sunny, cool and fluffy. The way September should be around here.
Pretty soon, we'll see hundreds of big birds landing in the ponds from the north and having their meetings to fly out. I used to see them land in a big patch of land, but that land was made into a Costco.

Yesterday was just an awesome day, 77 degrees and possibly the last good paddling opportunity. So we took the afternoon off and hit the York river one more time. We go upstream just before high tide, and then come back when the tide reverses. I got a screenshot of our location (blue) where we ended up. The launch point is the red dot. As you can see, it's just down the road from our house. We had planned to go all the way to the crossing road (Birch Hill), but the tide had turned, and we needed our energy to get back.

Average global temperature in August 2026 was 62.53° Fahrenheit. Average global temperature in July 2023 was 62.52° Fahrehnheit. Samantha Burgess of Copernicus Climate Change Service says because there is a "margin of instrumental uncertainty" of one-hundreth of a degree, the two months are statistically tied. The eight hottest months on record have been since July 2023.
