On July 11 – Go look! – I wrote, "Facebook needs to hire some people to remove fake stories and fake photos and ban the morons who post them." Since then, there have been more than 50 fake, AI-created movie posters posted on Facebook. All the (fake) movies are remakes, sequels or live-action versions of animated films: Shrek, Tangled, Brave, Aladdin, Frozen, Popeye, Grease, Home Alone, Lizzie McGuire, Monsters Inc., Ice Age, Christmas With The Kranks, The Mighty Ducks, The Good Dinosaur, The Princess Diaries, The Three Caballeros, Three Men & A Baby, Pirates Of The Caribbean and many more.

Most of the fake posters have "2025" in parentheses at the bottom. Many have misspellings, e.g., MonsterInc 2, A Charhae Brown Christmas, The Three Cabaleros, Little House On The Pratrie. One poster of a "new"(and fake) Charlie Brown Christmas includes two Snoopys and three Lucys in the background! A poster of a (fake) live-action Flintstones movie shows Adam Sandler as Fred Flintstone standing next to a Wilma whose hair is black, not red! A poster of a (fake) The Sound Of Music 2 (2025) shows Julie Andrews (who is 89) and Christopher Plummer (who died in 2021).

Very few people point out that the posters are fake and created with AI. The majority of the comments are from gullible schmucks who say they're looking forward to the movie or gullible schmucks who say they like the original movie and it doesn't need a remake or sequel.

Facebook is now filled with fake news stories, fake photos, fake videos and fake movie posters. It has become "Fakebook."
I like the fake manager/coach interviews posted after a team loses. Probably more honest than the real interview.

This morning someone posted a link to a news story claiming Shohei Ohtani had signed a "lifetime contract" to remain with the Dodgers. I didn't click on the link but I'm sure many people did. The story is fake. There is also a fake story claiming someone is suing The View for $50,000,000 for defamation. One version of the story says it's Micky Dolenz. Another says it's Reba McEntire.

I just saw on Facebook a fake poster of a Disney live-action Hercules movie, supposedly coming in 2027. It shows a cartoon drawing of Hercules surrounded by six women. At the bottom are pictures of the supposed "stars": Lizzo, Cynthme (Who? It's a fake name), Beyoncé, Sza (with black hair), Sza (with blonde hair) and Halle Bailey.

In 2022, Disney announced plans for a live-action Hercules to be directed by Joseph and Anthony Russo, who have directed two Captain America films and two Avengers films and have two more Avengers films in production. As for Hercules, no script has been completed and no actors have been cast. The movie likely will never be made.

Three more fake, error-filled, AI-created movie posters on Facebook today: "MONSTER 3 INC 3," "Princess and the Frog 2, JUST THE IN THEATERS 2026" and "Forrest Gump 2025" with a cast that includes "Gary Sinises" – his name is Sinise – and "Robin Kowigh" (Who? It's a fake name). And hundreds of gullible schmucks respond to these fake posters with "Can't wait" or "Looking forward to it." Sheesh!

I'm a little confused. You're on Facebook? I thought you hated Facebook. And why are you seeing so many movie promos? I do see articles about things that are not real, but I never see movie ads.

I never said I hate Facebook. Until five years ago I had no interest in creating a Facebook account because I thought most Facebook posts were "OMG" and "LOL" and pictures of what people ate for dinner. I now have a Facebook page but I seldom post anything to it. I belong to four Disney groups. Perhaps that is why Facebook shows me so many (fake) posters for Disney movies.

I just saw another fake, AI-created movie poster: "Disney Encanto 2, JULY 2025." Uh.....I believe July 2025 has passed and there is no Encanto 2.

I wrote that in 2019. I created a Facebook account in August 2020. Many of my friends were also friends of my late wife Teri, whose Facebook page I continue to add poems, photos and memories to.

I just got another fake, AI-created poster: "Disney MOANA 3, CFREAT.–ACTH–MAAANA 20320-2026." Huh??? And the fake poster shows Moana and Maui in the foreground and two more Mauis in the background!

Teri was hospitalized with breathing problems in February 2020. She was placed in intensive care and then suffered a mild stroke followed by a mild seizure. I posted daily updates on her Facebook page. On April 6, three days after she finally came home, I had to go on her page to share the sad news that she died in her sleep. It turned out to be from congestive heart failure with six "contributing factors" including asthma, apnea and a mild case of pneumonia. After four months of sharing memories and photos on Teri's page, I finally decided to get a page of my own.

And it has no OMGs or LOLs or pictures of what I eat. :p

I joined Facebook in 2007, when I became president of the board for the community band I was in. I needed to be able to maintain the band's page. We all have an excuse as to why we're on it.

I don't know when I joined. Probably did it because my wife did.

I use Facebook messager a lot. When we were stuck in Scranton, PA with my wife in the hospital, I created a group where I could update all her family and mine (the ones that were on Facebook) with her status. I also used it to update the major status updates over that summer and one she passed.

But I primarily use Facebook to check in to sporting events I attend, to concerts I attend or to any other place I attend. I update on trips I am taking. I don't do food aside from a bit in 2020 when I was learning to cook and wanted to share my creations. The big benefit of that is I see these posts in Facebook Memories which remind me of those trips and events. I share some of those memories again too.

I enjoy seeing similar updates from my friends. I skip the political posts. I don't see much food or fake movie posters and I have never seen the semi-nude pictures that sad gets on his feed either. I never make public posts (actually I have made a couple in my early posting -- I get weird responses from weird people or bots on them occassionally -- then I change the settings), all directed to my Friends or Friends of Friends if I am tagging.

The vast majority of my posts are:
- Dogs/hikes/paddling/beach
- Visiting friends/family
- Travel pics
- Community band
- Concerts/live events
- House/yard

When we moved to Maine, I posted about nice restaurants we found. Mostly the spots, rather than the food.

Mrs. Scotch enrolled in adult education classes when Facebook was only associated with colleges. So she was on from the beginning of public access.

I have friends who post really interesting world travel stuff. That's my favorite.

A story on Facebook says Bob Seger will be the halftime performer at this year's Super Bowl. Another story on Facebook says Micky Dolenz will be the halftime performer at this year's Super Bowl. Both stories have a link to click on – and I would not advise anyone to click on it. Both stories are fake – and this year's Super Bowl was seven months ago!

I had an older account, but I deleted it. I was going through some issues back then and was trying to get away from social media. Probably a year or two later I rejoined sometime back in 2015. I'm probably similar what IRBS said, I post some random things, read random news stuff along with friend’s posts.
