Only way this this thread will be renamed is when someone creates a "Acquisitions Thread" and then this thread can be merged together.

I hate Facebook's way of handling businesses. Terrible. The worst part is "if you want more than 10% of your followers to get your update, PAY US FUCKER!"

To combat it, most local bands back in the day created a second account as a 'person' for the band. Like first name: The Electric Fences last name: Band. To get around the BS. Wonder if Twitter will end up being as awful in this regard.
 
I didn’t know they did that.
I thought clicks equaled money for them, so driving traffic to popular pages should be their priority.

It's a hazy area. It's a private company, so they can do whatever the hell they want. But it has also become a ubiquitous form of communication worldwide, so it might be more appropriate to treat it as a public space. Guarantees that everyone will be unhappy to a certain degree.
 
Elon said that he wanted to open it up more for free speech.
As you say, it’s a private company, so I see there being a limit to their tolerance for true free speech. That line will be somewhere in front of their tolerance for profitability.

I read this originally as free meaning "no cost", not 2nd amendment. I took it as a clever dig on the idea of charging people to communicate, not limiting what they can say, because the original comment is about charging businesses to post.
