This company is handing-out money left and right

3M agrees to pay $6 billion after US military said faulty earplugs led to hearing loss

3M said the agreement is “not an admission of liability. The products at issue in this litigation are safe and effective when used properly."

The agreement will result in an approximately $4.2 billion pre-tax charge for the third quarter of 2023. Shares closed 5% higher on Monday because investors were expecting the settlement to be significantly higher.

This marks 3M’s second significant lawsuit settlement this summer. In June, the manufacturer said it would pay up to $10.3 billion over 13 years to fund public water suppliers in the United States that have detected its toxic “forever chemicals” (PFAS) in their water supplies.

I was in my office on Thursday and something started making a big old racket so I went outside and check out what I saw:

Like any normal American, my initial thought was that the Red Scare was finally proven true. The Russians were invading and obviously they chose North Lauderdale as their landing zone so these guys were sent to fight back.

I quickly ran into the apartment, grabbed my bat and headed outside. A minute before starting to actively hunt down anyone with a Eastern European accent to bash some Commie brains in, I decided I would search that plane. You know, that thing where you circle something in a picture and it Googles it. I did that.

Turns out that was a Blue Angel, which is freaking awesome! I guess I've only seen pictures/video of them in the air from the side or top, not from underneath. Fort Lauderdale is having an air show this weekend so they must have been practicing.

Those fucking things can zoom around. They are F/A-18 Super Hornets. They can go 1,190 mph. That's pretty freaking cool. No wonder they were making such a racket.

We live a few miles from Pease air force base, also used as Portsmouth airport. We have military planes flying over us just about every day.

That's awesome. Military planes are cool. Sometimes when I drive to Disney I'll see a caravan of military vehicles going down the road and even that's cool. Seeing Blue Angles in person is way cooler. There were 2 of them but I only got a good pic of that one.

My real initial thought (along with a Commie invasion) was that they were regular military planes doing some sort of training exercises and that's why they had US NAVY in such big lettering on the bottom of their wings. So when crazy war machines start randomly flying over the neighborhood people don't get freaked out.

I think the chief tenant in the commie military strategy if they ever decide to invade the USA would be to take the storage lockers first.

Dude!!!

I'm glad somebody sees how the world works.

When those sneaky Bolsheviks finally decide to try to get us they're definitely going to prioritize South Floridian storage facilities. I ain't winding up in a Siberian gulag. I'll go down with my storage facility ship before I cede an inch of it to those dirty Reds.

I went to school just across the bridge from Pease in the early 80s. Teachers had to stop class every day, more than once, to let the planes take off/land because you couldn't hear them talking.

The red spot is where my school was. The blue area was Pease.

I'm watching the F1 Miami Grand Prix, and they had an f-18 flyover for the national anthem.

Oh that's cool. That makes sense. They probably had the air show before the race Good idea to have the air show the same weekend since everyone is already going to be there for the race.

What channel is it on? I'll watch a little F1. I don't think I've ever watched more than 2 minutes in one sitting.

Well this is terrible and gross:

It says:

She also slept in the same bed as the accused predator on one occasion, with another person sleeping across the hall, police said.

but besides that it seems like the two were alone in his house.

This "other person" clearly wasn't one of her parents cause unless her parents are even worse than I'm about to talk about, no parent would let that same bed thing happen with a man and a 13 year old.

But besides that, why in the world would the parents let her sleep over there alone with just the 2 of them?

I'm not a parent but I'd never let my young teen girl sleep alone in a house with just a male friend of mine. Maybe I'm too paranoid but that seems odd to me, even with someone I completely trusted. If he had a wife or husband with him or a spouse and kids in the house with him it's a different story.

I may be a freak but I hope you all know that's just with wanting to lock Hectic in my basement, normal freaky stuff we all think about.....nothing like what this sicko did. Point being, I love Pam and want her to be my wife. But I'd wouldn't let her girls sleep over here alone with just me. It just seems inappropriate to me. And I'm sure Pam would never ask me to do it either. Now once I'm their stepdad it's a different story. But right now, no way. So this girl's parents were not great imo.

Today is the 82nd anniversary of D-Day which I guess you pretty much make the argument was the beginning of the end of the war in Europe.

Something like 2500 Americans alone died on just Omaha Beach. It's kind of staggering thinking about that.

Anyway, I learned that there's this American who was there taking pictures while it was going on. Then when he got home and they were going to be published in Life magazine. Some kid developing the pictures got all excited and fucked up most of them so they're only 11 left.

They're called The magnificent 11 and they were taken by a dude named Robert Cappa.
