Minor Ailments

Thanks. The catheter goes in when you're unconscious, so it's already there.

Yea that part I don't care about. Do whatever you want to me once I'm knocked out. I just don't want to wake up with it in or be conscious when it comes out.

I was in the room when my dad got one put in and taken out. He was conscious for both. After the first time he told me to never let them do that to him again. Then a few months later he was having trouble peeing and eventually it got so bad he asked for one. Also, I've lived a very easy life more or less and one of my most traumatic experiences is when I was very little, probably like 3 or 4, I guess I had a bladder infection or something but I def remember a doctor sticking things in my dick and it was awful.

So I spent another week in the hospital. I was home from my bypass surgery for 3 days, and I experienced the same intense pain radiating up my arms. They had done 4 arterial grafts, one of the minor ones closed down, because the entire area it was in was bad. After another coronary catheterization, they changed my medications to get me to recover.

I no longer have a risk of having another heart attack, but it took 5 days in the hospital before I could come home. I've been home for 3 days now, but my blood pressure's been too low for me to function like a person.

I'm feeling better, they say I'll make a full recovery. I've lost a lot of weight.

It sounds like it was a massively shitty week. Hopefully things are sorted out and you are on your way to feeling human again.
I was wondering where you've been.
Well then it was all worth it.

(Except for the tube in your dick part.)

So I almost died tonight.

At least the Mrs and my best friend thought so.
My bestie turned 50 during quarantine, and we weren’t hanging out over the last year. So since we all got our 2nd shot, we decided to take him out to a good steak house to celebrate.

We did it up proper. Stuffed mushrooms, a giant dry aged New York a strip, fresh bread, baked potato, salad, a few martinis, and a chocolate moose thing. I got a double espresso with dessert. So I started feeling kinda flush and light headed during dessert, and apparently, I glazed over and slumped over onto the the Mrs’ shoulder, eyes still open. I don’t remember that part, or the conversation, or them calling 911. I guess I was out of it for about a minute. EMS showed up as I was coming back into my own. They asked a bunch of questions, checked my BP, blood sugar, and hooked me up to an EKG. All the results were good, and they didn’t think I needed to go to the hospital.

I think it was waaaay too much rich food after mowing my lawn and the neighbors today, and it was warm in the restaurant and I had a bunch of layers on too.

If I was going to kick it, it seems like a decent way to go; after a great meal with my 2 best friends. After all, I’d want to haunt them anyway for outliving me.

I feel good now, just still really full from the meal.

A trip to the ER sounds like a great way to avoid paying a big restaurant bill. Did you faint after you saw the bill by chance?

Keep an eye on it. That is not a normal reaction to even a lot of food. Could be a hypo-glycimic reaction which could be an early sign of diabetes. Or could be something more serious. If it happens again, go to your own doctor.

This ends the unsolicited medical advice from the internet. Just a reminder I am not a doctor and I don't even play one on TV. I also did not even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Are you sure it's not narcolepsy? J/K. Seriously though damn that's scary! Glad you pulled through. We'd all miss your wit and dry humor. Easy on the hot beef inject... er, digestions moving forward!

I'm with (non)Dr. IRBS, get yourself checked out by your doctor to make sure all is well.

Glad you survived!

On a side note... if something happens to you, I guess that leaves me in charge around here

Wow, that's crazy and scary. Just so happens I have a story about this too.

Last summer we visited friends who have an outdoor pizza oven. The guy (who's extremely fit, but has gout and a kidney problem) was manning the oven, and drinking lots of wine. Then he took his first hit of pot in years. A little later, he said he couldn't see, his bp crashed, and he was in and out of consciousness.

We called 911, and same thing: they checked him out, said it was the heat and a reaction to the other stuff, and let him go. Wild.

Unfortunately, it was after I paid the bill...... My timing was never that good.

The Mrs. has been pestering me. I'm feeling fine and I'm thinking I'll wait to see if anything feels off for a while.

Did he bother following up with his Dr?
