Movies You've Seen That Aaron Hasn't

Solaris (original) was my favorite of the bunch.

I’m okay with Dogme 95, I watched some of the foreign ones. The Idiots - watched that one a few weeks ago, I didn’t really like it. Open Hearts was great, Mads Mikkelsen is one my favorite actors out there now. Buffalo 66 was great, love the cast and the way it references the Bills.

Also, the guy who made two of my favorite movies just made a new one, but I don't love him enough to actually even know his name. He made Tangerine and The Florida project. Both of them are super gritty and he just came out with a new one. Okay I'm going to look him up...

His new one is Anoura And his name is Scott Baker.

Being a Disney guy, the Florida project really fucking hit me because of how gritty it is about the shitty lives of the people that live Disney adjacent. Tangerine was also cool because it was shot all on iPhones and that was probably like an iPhone 7 or something and it was all about these whores looking for their pimp.

Also, he uses people who aren't really actors like the star of the Florida project. This was her first film. I mean he also had Willem Dafoe in it but he was hotel receptionist. Maybe the third or fourth name on the call sheet?. So it's kind of cool. He's how he recruits. No names to be his stars but Google to really people off the street.

He made Red Rocket also, that one was awesome. The Florida Project feels so authentic. Anora is on my watchlist.

The Florida Project feels so authentic
I know it plays on my unwavering love for Disney. So, I cannot view the movie objectively... But oh my God that fucking hit me emotionally... The way he plays the little kids' naive Joy at life against the girl's mother and her incredible struggles that force her to be a whore just to feed that girl against each other... Oh my God.

That scene where the little girls in the bathtub while her mom's whoring in the hotel bedroom. That's the type of hotel I stay at when I go to Disney because I don't care. I'm by myself. I'll stay at the cheapest fucking hotel. I think about it every time I'm at my hotel. And by the way I'm not that far from that actual hotel they they totally changed it. It doesn't look like a purple Castle anymore but it's literally 3 mi down the road from where I stay.

Oh have you seen and I have not seen it but it looks really cool the new Chipmunks movie? And I guess it's not that new anymore. It's like a year or two old, but I love the premise. That one chipmunk got plastic surgery, so it's not a Hand-Drawn cartoon anymore. Now it's a CGI cartoon. That's what the plastic surgery does for it. That's a funny premise right there.

Not familiar with that one.

Holy shit. Did I get you on a popular movie like basically a cartoon movie for children? I never thought I would get you on one of those. A Serbian film....i mean I was proud of myself that I've seen that but that's only cuz I I'm into the film vault podcast. Okay, so you're not like a cartoon guy so I can get you on cartoons all right? This is good to know.

Have you seen zootopia?

So I have a bit of a tradition where on my way to Disney I can listen to basically a full phish show and then once I get off the turnpike and get on these weird little highways by Orlando I turn on Disney music and my favorite to start with besides beauty and the beast because beauty and the beast is the goat.... Is Shakira zootopia that song's so fucking good and Shakira so fucking hot so it's just doubly good and gets me in the proper Disney mood.

Solaris (original) was my favorite of the bunch.

At first I thought that was the one with cillian murphy where the sun is going out and they have to go fix it but I just looked it up and that one's called Sunshine. That one's really good by the way. I'm sure you're seeing it.

Is Solaris the old space movie that was remade with George Clooney?

Here are some movies I like, still own on DVD and watch once in a while, that I suspect most people haven't seen.

Dragnet (1987)
My Father The Hero (1991)
CB4 (1993)
Sing Street (2016)

I'll have more when I get home and can look at them.

Dragnet (1987)

I used to watch the TV show on Nick and Knight when I was a kid. I assume this movie is based on that because the TV show was definitely on before that. I think it might have even been black and white.
