screen protector
I think most modern phones come with one from the factory. I put a screen protector on my previous phone only to realize the next day it already had one from the factory.

had to carefully squeegee on, while in the bathroom running the sink
Back in the day I had to do my phone and other people's phones too. I hate hate hated doing this. I effed up so many of those things. I always bought twice as many as we needed, knowing I'd screw some up.

Actually, here's exactly how I felt about doing it:

I’ve never protected the screen, I handle with care. I’ve had this new phone a few weeks now with no case - waiting for it to be delivered - so I’m being extra careful.

I haven't used a screen protector in prolly the last 10 years or so.
I'm careful and screens are sooo much better than they used to be.

I'm still a case and belt clip guy too. I'm old. I don't care what it looks like.
I've got enough in my pants already, so I don't need to put something else in them.

I should have never posted how I don't really drop my phone because I dropped the 9 pro fold and I fucked up the folding screen.

It's not totally broken, but there's a black spot in the top middle and sometimes the touch functions act funky. The front screen works fine so it's more like a normal pixel 9 pro now.

I dropped it right on the hinge on tile so it was totally my fault. It's not the phone having some issue or whatever.

Anyway, I'm going to do the insurance thing. I forget exactly how it works if I have to give up my phone for a day or if I keep the phone until they send the new one and then I ship the old one back. I hope the latter is how it works because last time with the pixel 7 my phone was just broken so I just didn't have a phone for a day. Whereas this time I still have a working phone but the really cool main feature of it is all wonky now.

Just filed my claim and am getting a new 9 pro fold shipped overnight so I should get it tomorrow or Tuesday I guess.

Anyway, take a guess how much the deductible was. And note that this phone if you buy it outright is 1800 bucks.

Hint: it certainly wasn't cheap, but it was a lot cheaper than having to get a new phone without the insurance.

You're pretty spot on. It was a little less. With tax it was $213.

If I remember correctly, the pixel 7 pro was around $800 to $900 new and I think the deductible I paid a couple years ago for that one was around $120.
I based it on the phones I've had, where it ranged between $150 and $250. I figured it might be higher for a mega-expensive phone.

Got my new phone set up today. Still have to sign into a bunch of apps and what not which is annoying but it's nice to have the whole phone working again. I mean the reason it's so expensive is because you have that cool giant tablet when you unfold it so love having that back.

The broken one got significantly worse as the days went on. It started off as just a little black spot in the top middle right by the hinge but take a look at the picture. As of today the whole middle screen was more or less dead.

Also, I'm going with a case this time. I don't think it'll make that much of a difference if I drop the thing on its top hinge on tile again but maybe for like drops on carpet or something like that. It'll protect it better.

I got this one:

Just installed it and so far I like it. It's pretty thin and the hinge protector when the his phone is open. Provides for like a grip for your back fingers so I won't need the popsocket. I like the giant kickstand too. That's magnetically attached so it stays in place when you're not using it.

If it winds up being terrible, I'll probably post about it again, but I assume it'll be fine. You know whatever it's a case. Nothing too exciting.

This thing was crazy expensive like irresponsibly expensive but at the same time it has become my computer. I literally have not used my computer in like 2 months. Open this thing up to tablet form and it's just my it's computer but it's way faster.

I know it's a dumb toy that I didn't need but it's the first time I bought like a Mac book Air or something like that? Nobody really needs a MacBook Air but it's super fun when you have it.

I'm not sure how much those cost but they can't be that much more than this and this is my version of that. And I'm getting my money's worth.

The first time I had to use insurance it was my fault since I dropped the phone.

Two days ago I made the awful decisions to reboot the phone and now it wont turn back on. I noticed something coming about a week before because the outside screen would have like a color seizure then stop working but I hoped it would be a thing that would go away if I ignored it. That was not the case.

So tomorrow I have to figure out how to ship it back and get a new one. I forget how I did it before and when I try to do it through the T-Mobile site I need a phone to log on so that's no help.

I remember that once I file the claim I get the new phone overnight so that's cool.

We'll see how this goes. Either way I'm going to be out another $200 or so. Also I hate the idea I will have to send this one back without being able to factory reset it.

I've been lucky enough with my phones that I haven't had or needed insurance for them.
I think that my current Note is about 6 years old and still running well. It still gets a bit better than 3 days on a charge.
I'm not expecting that I'll get a lot more out of it though.
The new version of the Note (the Ultra) is supposed to get released in the next month or two. I'll see how the reviews are after a few months.

I had to send one of my iPhone6 phones back with AppleCare. It started having charging issues. Apple put a hold for the charge for a new iPhone6 on my credit card, shipped it. I got it, transferred stuff from old one, reset it and send it back in the pre-paid box they provided. Then they reversed the hold. If they determined it was human damage, they would have reversed all but $45. If they never saw the old phone, then they make a full charge. I did this on month 23 of 24 month Apple Care.

Oh this is somewhat similar to what happened to me. I went to the T-Mobile store and they got me in contact with the insurance people and turns out I won't have to pay anything this time. It was $200 something last time because it was my fault, I clearly dropped the phone and that's what broke it. This time it simply stopped working and that makes the replacement free.

Bad news is my specific model is on back order so I won't get it until the 29th-4th so I had to go get a burner in the meantime.
