I just got one of these delivered.
Will report back in a few days how’s it going with more data collection.

“The Oura Ring is a smart ring that tracks key health metrics like sleep, activity, heart rate, and body temperature using built-in sensors (LEDs, NTC sensor, accelerometer) to provide personalized health insights and scores in its app, helping users understand their body's readiness, recovery, and patterns for better balance and wellbeing. “

I had to look up the definition of "NTC sensor": "An NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) sensor is a highly accurate, low-cost resistor made of sintered ceramic or metal oxides that decreases in electrical resistance as its temperature increases. Primarily used for temperature measurement, control and compensation, these solid-state sensors (e.g., 10kΩ epoxy, bead, glass, SMD) are widely applied in automotive (coolant/intake air), HVAC and consumer electronics to monitor or react to thermal changes."

Then I had to look up "sintered": "produced by or subjected to sintering (the process of coalescing a powdered material into a solid or porous mass by means of heating without liquefaction)."

And I had to look up "SMD": "SMD (surface mount device) sensors are the solution for temperature measurement applications where the sensor needs to be incorporated onto a printed circuit board (PCB)."

I also learned that Oura is pronounced "aura." I are so much more smarterer now!

I have the RingConn and like it quite a bit. Congrats on your new toy I'm sure you'll dig it.

I got one because I want to have a health tracker but still wear real watches and it's done everything I was expecting.

I inherited my stepfather's Oura when he passed but I guess you can't transfer them from one person to another? So it's just sitting around unused.

Not to be a downer but you have to pay a monthly fee for Oura tracking right? That was a big reason why I went with RingConn.

What size are you Aaron? I'm a 12 on my left middle finger where I mostly wear it.

There are more or less 3 brands:

Oura - which is a million miles more popular than any other health/fitness ring.
Ultrahuman
RingConn

Samsung makes one too but even though it is backed by such a huge name it is the least popular.

I'm on my second RingConn. The gen 2 is thinner which is really nice and has sleep apnea tracking along with everything in the gen 1. They have an even thinner one called RingConn Air but you lose some of the tracking features.

Yes, $5.99 monthly subscription with Oura. I’m wearing a silver, size 11 on right hand 4th finger. (Wedding band on left hand).

Yea I wore gen 1 on my ring finger and i'm a size 11 there too. I read something about how it's best to wear on the index finger but I find it more comfortable on the middle finger so I split the difference haha.

Well I've been wearing my RingConn for years now and of course as soon as I start talking about it here I lose it.

It's completely my own fault. I lost it at the WPB Red Roof Inn+. After seeing Pam I went back to bed for like 90 mins before I had to head to work. She is nice enough to call me to make sure I'm up. I wasn't up and I was late. I jammed everything into my bag and got on the road. I made it to work on time but later that day I realized I wasn't wearing the ring. Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night I will take it off cause its annoying to me. I must have done that at some point.

Once I realized I called the motel and they didn't have it. Then like a week later when I was there again I asked them to check their list and found and it wasn't there either.

So this really sucks.

It will be very annoying to spend all that money to buy a replacement knowing this was all my fault. I'm not sure if I will replace it even though I really like the thing.

Awww that’s a bummer!
Having to spend money to replace something that was working fine to begin with
