What if it identifies as non-binary?you can't rape a tractor.

Try harder.But you can't rape a tractor.
I don’t know about any of the details other than that he was a slave owner. The idea of it being rape may or may not be accurate. Does anybody really know what happened? That brings up another point...Even if Jefferson's slave Sally Hemings was giving consent it's still rape right? I mean if you are owned the whole concept of consent goes out the window.
Back in the 1700s the thinking at the time did not qualify negro's as human. The thinking was wrong but they honestly believed that negros were not at the same level as the civilized white man. The British/American/Canadian also had the same opinion of the "savages" who lived in North America when they got there. As a side note, Indians also had slaves (other tribes who had been captured). Slavery is not a uniquely American/British or white thing. Just the most well known.Dude...I'm pretty sure it was awful even in the 1700's
Paid labor is one thing...owning a human....that's a real other thing.
I hope nobody's implying that slavery is an American thing. They had slaves in Europe. And if you've seen The Ten Commandments, the Jews were enslaved by the Egyptians in like 2000 BC. I'm sure there's slavery today in some parts of the world. We didn't invent the idea.Yea but dude...owning another human being? That seems like a wrong that transcends time.
Absolutely. But unfortunately back then people didn't take a stand against it.Dude...I'm pretty sure it was awful even in the 1700's
Exactly. Back in Egyptian and Roman times, if you lost a battle, you got taken as a slave. It didn't matter what color your skin was. You lost. Get your ass to work.I hope nobody's implying that slavery is an American thing. They had slaves in Europe. Very uncool.Kina uncool.
Fortunately, it's much much harder these days.So how hard is it as a people to not buy other people?

It should be renamed the American Apologist thread. With all this talk of American founders raping slaves and Canadian founders ripping kids from their homes, this is quickly becoming the 'unpatriotic thread'.
Or the 'tractor rape' thread. At this point, the conversation could go either way.
Absolutely. But unfortunately back then people didn't take a stand against it.
They had a saying that was something like "Come back (from battle) with your shield, or on it." If you came back with it, you won, if you were on it, it meant that you died, and they dragged your bodie back on it. Anything else meant disgrace. That's how it worked?
No wonder the Romans were so good. Rather die than be some slave.
Live by his example and do something about the injustices you see in America. Just be sure to pick a more appropriate style for your monument, and skip the theater.God bless Lincoln.

Sorry but I hate everything about that song.
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Comedian Kathleen Madigan is also not a fan of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA" (aka "Proud To Be An American").A Buffallo station in the fall of 2001 played this song at the top of the hour every hour.
