Well, Athena is going deaf. I shouldn't be surprised. I forget exactly how old she is but I either got her in 08 or 09. I can't remember it was either the year my mom died or the year after so she's an old girl. But it still sucks.

if I walk up on her when she's laying in my bed i have to like clap my hands or like scream "Athena" and then she hears me.

So she's not deaf, but she's losing her hearing. She's such a cute little girl. I don't want my cute little girl losing her hearing. That's awful.

Down here in Florida we get these little geckos like these lizards. They actually kind of look like the Geico gecko except they don't talk and sell insurance. Anyway, some of them. I'm probably calling them by the wrong name but they're like chameleons and their bodies are almost see-through like you can definitely see their black organs within their bodies.

What I'm getting at is one got in the apartment and Athena found it and she chased it all around and it was super fun watching her chase it cause she never really gets to hunt... She played with it for a while then she killed it and ate it.

I don't know how cat digestive systems work, but like 2 hours later she was in the middle of the living room. All haunched over looking like she was either going to take a shit or puke. She didn't really do either, but I'm guessing I'm going to find a surprise somewhere in this apartment tomorrow morning.

I'm still proud of her for killing the wild beast that invaded my home.

Geckos and lizards sometimes harbor a parasite known as a liver fluke (Platynosomum fastosum). If a liver fluke gets into Athena's bile duct it could lead to inflammation of the liver. It might also lay eggs in her bile duct. Eek! If Athena experiences a loss of appetite and swelling of the abdomen and her eyes develop a yellowish tinge, you need to take her to a veterinarian. He will likely prescribe Droncit or Panacur or, if necessary, prednisone.

Do you know where liver flukes are most commonly found? Hawai'i, the Caribbean islands.......and Florida.

Well that's a huge fucking bummer dude. I was just proud of my cat for hunting something for once. I'm sure she'll be fine. If not then we have a $1,000 vet visit to look forward to.

She's asleep on the loveseat right now so I'm hoping everything will be okay.

Mister JHDK, this should make you make feel better. At least I hope so.

"It has been estimated that as many as 50% of outdoor cats in Florida actually have some liver flukes in their liver. The vast majority of these cats show no symptoms and lead a normal life."

That’s cheap.

Did you ever see the movie Alien????

Just sayin.

Hahah well good news, nothing popped out of her chest and infested my apartment and killed everybody in here. So I think we're good at least for now.

Thank you DRC Cliff Clavin
I hate that I don't get that reference. I looked it up or I asked Google and Google said he's a dude from Cheer's but didn't give context and I'm not looking into it further. I'm not asking for you to explain. I'm just stating that it pisses me off when I don't get obvious references.

Are you saying you have never watched one episode of "Cheers"? How not? Were you drunk and passed out in a ditch or something?

Sorry I'm not an old fucking man. I know Woody harrelson was on it and I know that curly haired girl was on it and that fat dude was on it. But no I don't know Cheers besides the theme song.

Oh also didn't they spin off Frasier from cheers? I like Kelsey Grammer. So I know a little bit about it I guess.

Also, I know it's finale got like higher numbers than the super bowl.... Or that might have been MASH...not sure. So I just know a few history facts about it. I've never actually seen it.

I should probably watch it. Is it streaming somewhere? It's so hard to watch comedies with a laugh track though these days with our modern sensibilities.

Maybe if I view it as Seinfeld I could get behind it because Seinfeld's the only laugh track show I still like today.
