#243 Arlo Gurthrie "Alice's Restaurant Massacree"

I'd tell you why I like this song so much, but I'd need to find my twenty-seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles, and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one is.

That's a classic.

Despite that song coming from one of my favorite musical eras, I've never actually listened to more than a few minutes of it. Lol
Coming from someone who just forced himself to watch 100 movies he (mostly) declared to be unwatchable, this may be the most ironic post in the history of DRC.

They used to play that song every Thanksgiving on the radio, so I'd hear it once a year.
#242 Digital Underground "The Humpty Dance"

Pronounced with a "umpty". Ridiculous, but loaded with so much funny. A-doo-reeeer, a -doo-rit!

That song makes me laugh every time.

#241 Bone Thugs N Harmony "Tha Crossroads"

I don't generally get into rap ballads, but there's something special about this one. I can't quite place my finger on it. Oh wait, yes I can.... it has meaningful lyrics, creative vocals and pleasant melodies. So THAT'S what's missing from most rap ballads.... talent!

#239 Eddie Money "I Wanna Go Back"

"The first slow dance, hoping that I get it right." I didn't. But I'd love a chance to do it again, do lots of things again. Hang with old friends now long gone. Relive some great moments. Old parties. Old concerts. Re-experience the sounds, the sights, the tastes, the joy, the laughter. But just temporarily. I wanna go back... then come back.

#237 Grinspoon "Postinebriatedanxiety"

Next in line with my other alt-metal favorites, like Tool "46 & 2", Quicksand "Fazer", Smile "Staring At The Sun" and Helmet "Unsung", here's a great one from Australia.

Related question: is there a term for this style of singing (all five songs I listed)? The best I can come up with is "college rock vocals over metal riffs" or "Michael Stipe doing karaoke of Ozzy songs". But there's gotta be a word....? Creed/Pearl Jam style is called "yarling". Judas Priest/Iron Maiden style is "falsetto metal". What's this called?

#236 Korn "Need To"

Third of seven songs from Korn's groundbreaking first album on the 333. Every song on it, aside from "Shoots And Ladders", is better than anything else from the rest of their discography.

I dread posting #235. If anyone has been silently waiting for a good excuse to unload on my taste in music, this will be your opportunity!

But I've gotta be honest - no pretending certain songs aren't my favorites. No skipping any songs and renumbering the list. No replacing a song with a "classic that will make me look better" when that's not the truth.

Every time #235 comes out of my speakers, I crank it up, sing along .... and even prefer it over the original.

I'll post it later tonight or tomorrow morning.
