I have come to like the OEM units. Yes, they lack the features of the PNPs but I never use them anyway. My current OEM has a 35 character display each for title and artist.
. And you can listen to XM in the car without the wife complaining about wires.

Paint yourself lucky, but most OEM's have a 16 character limit and some older ones had a 8 character limit. I hope these limits are a thing of the past as is should be.
Yeah...the prior OEM radio I had in the (2004 Audi) had the 16 character limitation.
The one I have now (2007 Mercedes) does not have that issue.
My wife's 2005 Acura XM radio has the 16 character limitation. It's annoying.
A few years ago, I think there was an attempt to keep the PAD data short and sweet. I don't think they care anymore...it's probably assumed that most people don't have that issue anymore.
My 2008 car has 16 char limit. I think they just fired the person or persons that did care as a cost saving measure.

That is a big assumption, I bet you there are still OEM's being installed to this day that have that 16 character limit even on new vehicles.
I'm pretty sure Mazda and Subaru are two of those since their radios aren't much to begin with. I know I was looking at Mazda with Satellite in it for a while, and their display is minimal for ANY radio much less satellite.
Yesterday I asked to get a deal on my mom's talk and news plan. 15 bucks. I said that 2 more bucks hurts. They gave me 8 dollar deal for it.
We were done and I said my friend and I have been with the service for 20 years. They came back with both for 12 bucks a month. I said for how long?
The rest of our lives.
